If this had been Spike Lee squawking about some white player, nothing would have been said.

Exactly. By defintion (the left's definition) blacks cannot be racist. Racists like Lee, Jackson, Sharpton, Mfume and Bond get free passes every time. Their free speech is guaranteed by a compliant media axis. I'm beginning to think the left's death grip on education, the media, the bureaucracy and now, religion, cannot be overcome. We are entering a dark era.

Who owns ESPN? Yes, this is about a double-standard. However, the splits on this double-standard intrigue me. Rush does know sports; Jesse Jackson knows diddly but how to promote racism. Jackson's view is "respected" on everything from sports, to international politics, to ... shakedowns to..

If Spike Lee had been hired by ESPN and had said something about a "white" player; everyone would have looked away. Or, simply said to themselves "same old tired crapola" from a race-obsessed id groupie. I'll betcha some team owners are squawking big time -- and because they too know that race id politics run pretty deep throughout the teams... ahem.

Hell, if it had been Robert Byrd (DEMOCRAT-KKK), Fritz Hollings (D-Jim Crow South), Cruz Bustamente (DEMOCRAT-Aztlan) making the SAME comments as Limbaugh about a black player, nothing would have been said.

Democrats are allowed to make racist statements about anyone, anywhere, anytime.

How about Dusty Baker saying a few weeks ago that white people don't like hot weather the same as blacks?

You are, of course, correct, Paul. But putting aside for a moment whether Rush was right or not about the Eagles' QB, why walk on the third rail of American 21st Century public discourse? Why--as the most visible voice of American conservatism--bother to bring race into sports dialogue when the right has always been accused of continuing to embrace vestiges of racism? Why give the left-wing media establishment more racial ammo to use against us?

And yes, the media tends to fawn over black Americans (or more correctly, does not take them to task in the same way that it does non-blacks when they go astray), but why could he not see that the risk/benefit ratio of broaching this subject was not at all in his favor.

Although I have learned a lot from Rush over the years and truly believe he has been the most important conservative influence in the US other than President Reagan, he has disappointed me with his ill-conceived remarks.
