About 21 percent of adult women in Maine smoke, compared to the national average of 20.7 percent, leading to a high incidence of tobacco-related illnesses in the state. For example, the prevalence of lung cancer, the biggest cancer killer of women, was 48.3 deaths per 100,000 women, the 47th worst in the country.

Maine has virtually the same percentage of smokers as the nation yet it ranks 47th worst ? Must be a typo somewhere.

Dorsey also said the percentage of adult women trying to quit smoking has grown from the 51.5 percent in 2000 to 62.6 percent in 2002.

The majority of smokers don't like smokers. No wonder the bans are taking place.

The Judy person:

Judy Dorsey, a senior policy analyst for the Maine Coalition on Smoking or Health.

The mini-person

The majority of smokers don't like smokers. No wonder the bans are taking place

Not too circular - the Gnatzie cites the other Gnatzie.

I'm convinced.

If almost 2/3 of women who smoke want to quit then it might be safe to infer that they don't like the smoke. If they don't like the smoke then its not a big stretch that they don't like to be around smokers.

Continuing the circular reference and proclaiming it truth doesn't make it truth.

Would you also give credence to polls by the Flat Earth Society?

Correct. Injected with nicotine during years of smoking.

So what?

In adult life, people live their own lives and then die.

In the Wonderful World o' Perpetual Children that you inhabit, no freedom is so precious that it can't be sacrificed for a few more months or years of sucking air to prolong your pestering.

Trying to put off the Great Reckoning as long as possible is the only reason I can think of to sell your soul for even just a few more minutes.

In adult life, people live their own lives within the framework of the laws and morals of society and then die.

Perhaps you would like to take the photo to your doctor and ask him if your lungs look like that!

we encourage you to acknowledge that you are getting paid to post your pro-drug propaganda.

Keerist, it's like turning on a light and watching the roaches scurry. Why d'ya suppose it's necessary for the Whiny Anal-Retentive Tyrants to be so nasty? I 'spose it just comes naturally. Cin, Min, and Tacis--three blind rats.

I have never met any adult that thinks he will live forever. But most know that by NOT smoking, they will have a better life, live longer and save some money if they do smoke.

Better LIFE??!!!  Smoking ENHANCES my quality of life.  But I guess you can't understand that..............

Live LONGER?  My Grandma lived to be 86, smoked THREE packs of unfilted CAMELS a DAY...........died in her sleep.

Save MONEY? heh!  I have been rolling my own now for three years.......I roll one carton for UNDER $8.00 dollars and I am NOT paying into the stupid state coffers anymore.  Happy? You bet I am!!!

My eyes are open. Smokers that deny the hazards are the ones with blinders.

LIFE is a hazard! But I am going to live it to the FULLEST.............

Peeing is a biological neccessity; smoking is a dirty filthy habit. Smoking shows that one has no respect for his body or the comfort of those around them

Dirty Filty HABIT? heh! You must have enjoyed it before you got cancer!!!!!!!!

What's a dirty filthy  habit to you is sweet aroma to the rest of us.  And I think we have been over the FILTHY part before.

I am sorry you got cancer from smoking, and I am sorry you can't smoke anymore, but leave the rest of us to enjoy it.

I have left instructions to my family and friends that when I'm on my death bed, and if your tedious life extends beyond mine, they are to seek you out and bring you to my bedside so that I may blow smoke in your face.

GOOD one!  Think I will do the same!!!!!!!
