Boycott Target
Mpls. Star Tribune | Tuesday, Sept. 30th, 2003 | mikemurphy111

Posted on 09/30/2003 7:48:57 PM PDT by mikemurphy111

I am hoping to get folks to quit shopping at Target because they sell these awful, dirty, FCUK EWE products at Marshall Field's here in Mpls. For any retailer here in the Heartland to spit on the morals and standards that most of us live by is just unbelievable. Target refuses to follow Federated who dropped this line of Degenerate cosmetics and tee shirts and other clothing after a week of protests from God fearing Christians all over the Midwest. Target says No, we will sell what we want. Well, we consumers who don't want our teen age grandchildren wearing FCUK EWE shirts around the neighborhood will Boycott Target.

Target is much better than Wal-Mart and does not stock mostly Chinese made junk like Wally-World. Ergo, I shop at Target stores and personally boycott Wal-Mart.

I was just in London last month and the FCUK line is everywhere on people and ads. It is also big here in Kuwait.

Lighten up folks... if you don't like the product, don't buy it.

I happily shop at Target - I won't be buying any of the French Connection lines.

No.

I love Target.

If no one buys those shirts at MF's they'll take them from the racks.

FCUK EWE

If that phrase was followed by the words

LIBERAL SCUM

I'd buy several.

I agree with you on the colorful term you spelled out... but I don't see how FCUK is a problem unless you allow the thought police to rule on this one.

Protests or letter campaigns by consumer have often worked. They were used effectively by Rev. Jim Jones. And there have been several recent examples.

FCUK

You are trying way too hard to ignore the obvious.

No I'm not...over half of the world's population don't even know that the F-word is a swear word. Just as many probably consider bloody to be a swear word.

I truly do not believe that this is anything more than creative marketing. I also believe I will not be running into you one day sporting an FCUK T-shirt...and guess what? I'm ok with that.

Nah. You are either naive or just arguing to be arguing. You can't defend this as a mere coincidence.

Not at all on either charge... I've already stated I believe its marketing and you are proving that it works. You and a few others will most likely never buy their products, but you now know who they are.

I received the following e-mail this morning:

Subject: TARGET

FROM: Vietnam Veterans Association, By Dick Forrey

We asked our local Target store to be a sponsor of
the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall during our spring
recognition event.

We received back a reply from Target management that,
"Veterans do not meet our area of giving. We only
donate to the areas of the arts, social actions, gay
and lesbian causes, and education."

My thought:
If the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall
and veterans in general, do not meet their donation
criteria, something is wrong at Target. We were
not asking for thousands of dollars, not even
hundreds, but simply sponsorship of an endorsement
for a memorial remembrance.

As follow-up, I E-mailed the corporate headquarters
and their response was the same. Personally, I will
NOT be purchasing anything at Target Stores again.
If Vietnam Veterans, or Veterans in general,
do not meet their area of giving, then why should I,
as a Vietnam veteran, spend my hard earned
money in their stores? (TARGET IS FRENCH OWNED -
WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT?)

Sincerely,
Veterans Helping Veterans

PS: Target will also not allow the Marines
to collect for "Toys For Tots" during the holidays.
Are you surprised?

I received the following e-mail this morning:

An e-mail?!? Well then, it MUST be true! Let's get some torches and pitchforks, form a mob, and go burn the demon spirits out of those blasted Target stores!

Or, you could go here:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/target.asp

Claim: Target stores do not "support veterans."

Status: False.

No thanks. Here's an idea: don't buy the shirts.

And next you'll be telling us not to walk down the streets of SF?
