I respect your opinion on the issue, and feel slightly uncomfortable in suggesting that liberals, even ones expressing themselves civilly, should be discouraged from posting at FR.

But, upon reflection, I conclude that FR was created, and remains, a place for conservatives to debate among themselves, rather than to debate with liberals. There are other forums for that. We need and are entitled to our place.

So, by discouraging polite liberals from discussion, we are just possibly, keeping those folks liberal. If we are true to our values, we just might succeed in changing the minds of potentially valuable allies.

I started out life in a Democrat household. I changed my viewpoint long before I discovered Free Republic, but I can guarantee that FR would have certainly helped me form my current way of thought.
