I agree with you, especially if the landlord would not allow tenants to take measures if vermin infested the place. Who would want to shop in a place like that?

I think the landlord's seen one too many screenings of Joe's Apartment...

"But I'll bet that allowing insects to overrun the place is a building or health code violation."

Yes it is. No lease will cover the landlord for that. The article doesn't mention whether shops are allowed to sell VEGETABLE products like CANDY, which we all know ants LOVE. Are business owners and their employees barred from eating?

This information was clearly stated in the lease. If they didn't want to abide by the landlords rules they shouldn't have signed the lease. Now, having said that, we're talking about ants here!! For goodness sake just put a few of those ant hotel thingys under the counters and shut up about it.

Jeanne Daniels, the owner, is supposed to live somewhere in Houston.

Are they allowed to wash their hands? Or is killing bacteria verboten as well?

Is it possible to relocate the insects by vacuming them up and moving them to Peta HQ? And give them some food for the trip!

(Hope she doesn't get termites in that old wooden building of hers. Hint. Hint.)

Somehow, I don't think she used any pressure-treated evil-insecticide-full lumber in those foundations, right?

It's her RE and flaky tho' she is, it's a victory for property rights, hers. No one has to rent from her.

Should the state step in and force her to rent to businesses catering to carnivores.

How 'bout smokers?

You don't know Texas fire ants, d'you. They eat those little thingies for breakfast.

AUSTIN — When bridal shop owner Nancy Owen found ants in her store, she had two choices: relocate the critters or relocate her shop. Extermination was not an option.

This might be one of those rare instances where the city health department might step in. Ants in the store? Squish them and take the goofy landlord to court.

Ants! Can't stand the critters, especially pisants! They rank right along side the spiders and roaches. Nasty!

Is this for real! Just can't image someone imposing those rules and expecting to make money.

Yes! They are clearly discriminating against animals that aren't visible to the naked eye! Just because you're small doesn't mean everyone should be able to pick on you...
