Very little immigration is of skilled personnel. Besides, it is precisely because of advances in global communications that we do not have to allow people to move to the U.S. to take advantage of their talents and benefit from their contributions.

We do not need skilled people. We are going to be a service based economy, don't you remember?

We don't need more skilled people immigrating to the U.S. because we have advances in telecommunications and a global economy. Especially since most of the skilled workers might have a sense of moral and individual responsibility, AND might turn out to be Republican or WORSE YET, CONSERVATIVE voters ultimately. Businesses will get the service and products that it needs either domestically or import/outsource.

What is needed by today's Democratic politicans are more voters, and now..... They are getting very desparate to hold power the further left they go. They are losing their old political power base because in their quest for power, they end up promising and providing more money and benefits to potiential voters for their vote --- it's a blank checkbook. Provide amnesty to the illegals (they will vote for the Democrats), provide benefits to illegals (they will vote for the Democrats), provide them with the documents to hide their illegal status (Consular Matricular card acceptance and CA driver's licenses) and MOST OF ALL provide them with the opportunity to illegitimately register to vote (Motor/Voter registration [oh, did they know that they were supposed to be U.S. citizens, OR didn't anybody inform them of this requirement or ask for any kind of citizen documentation]}. [And then you have the fact that most of the election fraud is occurring in large Democrat-controlled cities and isn't even investigated ... yet alone enforced].

It is a vicous cycle, the more they provide, the more others want and in order to please them all, they at least promise to provide more. The more they provide, the more government involvement in every facet of our lves and the further socialist their policies become. The Democrats have successfully turned this into a discrimination issue.

The Republicans, in general, do not have the backbone to
stand up to this and refuse both for their own political consequences and business lobbying to address this issue even though it has such far reaching consequences beyond just immigration and politics, with the war on terror (which the Democrats even refuse to recognize is still going on) and our own citizenry and national security at risk.

This issue is a continues to fester. It suits the Democrats and liberals to pursue this. Even if they do not win on the issue this time, they will continue pushing. Their strategy is to force the Republicans to compromise on their position Because if they don't they will be labeled as extremists and UNCOMPROMISING (which is supposed to upset the general public, haven't they heard of standing up for one's principles [oh, that's right, liberals don't have any]). Then the liberals force a compromise and force that stance to be accepted as the status quo. Then they start arguing again for the conservatives to compromise between the new status quo and what the liberals want still. It is a war of attrition, and can not be compromised on anything of substance because this just rewards the liberals and encourages them to continue this juvenile and self-serving behavior. In the minds of the liberals, government is only a game ... a game for power and greed...a game to be won or lost, and they will not lose, if they don't give up anything.

Immigration has to be controlled or we will all suffer in the long-run.

By the way, go Cubbies!!!!!!!
