For one, a RINO is NOT a "moderate-centrist". The term was coined by Celeste Greig of the California Republican Assembly in 1993 to describe LA Mayor Richard Riordan. Riordan was a Republican In Name Only. That means there is no aspect of being Republican can be relied upon by the guy. At any momment he might turn around and endorse or give money to a liberal Democrat. He might suggest outrageaous far-left policies suggest as rounding up guns door-to-door. That's what a RINO is.
Liberal Arnold has given every indication that he is a RINO, not a moderate centrist. Lets start with his environmental policy written by Robert Kennedy Jr.. His opposiiton to Prop 54 advanced by moderate-centrist Ward Connerly is another RINO indication. His calling opponents of government categorizing people by race as "right-wing crazies" is another RINO indication. Connerly is prettay dang moderate. There is no room to the left of him in the Republican Party.
Finally, if Arnold really cared about the Republican party he would step aside and let the guy who supports the party and has for 20 years win. He'd let the guys who supports the paltform win.
We have gotten so close. It is too bad that one man with a huge ego is ruining it all. Please, please Arnold. See the light. Drop out before it is too late.
If you want a winning deal, Tom might be willing to consider appointing Arnold to something he's qualified for, like an office to stimulate the movie industry or as liasion to the bricklayers union. A deal COULD happen, but someone has to call Tom and ask him.

(It's time for Arnold to stop splitting the Republican vote and step aside for the good of the party)

It is clear that Arnold is going to win whether McClintock stays in or not.

Tom wouldn't win if Arnold dropped out today.

Ahold being the RINO/Democrat lite that he is means that if he withdraws the votes will then go to a true conservative?
I would think alot of his votes will go to the rats.

Liberal Arnold has given every indication that he is a RINO At the point of sounding sacreligious, who cares if Arnie is really a Dem? What counts in my book is pro-business. If he's a Dem, he certainly is a strange one; up from the boot straps to become fabulously wealthy is not a normal Dem career path.
About the only ones who are both liberal achieve that kind of success are in the entertainment business. Perhaps this is where your confusion lies: Arnie was already a successful real estate investor before he became a movie star.
The guy is free-enterprise all the way. McC was and is completely dependent on the very government he criticizes. That's the exact definition of a hypocrite.

AIT, I endorse your idea, and actually I expect that Arnold has already launched such an effort. It will be up to Tom whether he wants to come along or be left behind.
EGD, you must be a pilot, because I think I hear the booze talking.
The fact is that Schwarzenegger is within striking distance of winning this WITHOUT Tom McClintock. Frankly, I think that would be the worst possible outcome for the McClintock conservatives. California conservatives would be marginalized for years.
EGD, that is exactly what you and like-thinkers are accomplishing. Your fabled "principles" mean little in the political world of elections won or lost. And that is where you guys are headed: another lost election followed by that all too familiar whine whine whine and carp carp carp.
AIT, I submit to you that it is not the Schwarzenegger faction that has the most to gain, it is the McClintock faction that has the most to lose.
Still it could be a win-win if not for dedicated losers like EGD.
