Nationwide Protest of Affirmative Action

New Web Site Uses Civil Disobedience to Protest Affirmative Action
http://www.NoRace.org
On it, prospective college and grad school students can log on and sign an action petition stating that they will intentionally misreport their races on college admissions applications. The site will not reveal their names (we want them to get accepted), but will reveal how many applicants from each school have signed the petition. Signers are given an official letter of protest to present to any Dean of Admissions that gives them grief because of their skin color.
I thought you might be interested.

Actually, if you are white remember the oldest remains found in North America are Caucasian I think kennewick man was shown to be different from the american indians and to be of japanese descent, not european. Actually, asian and european are very close genetically, africans are close to but slightly different.

my ancestors originated in Africa (with a few hundred thousand year stopover in Europe). Surprisingly, the stopover in europe may be as little as 20,000 years which is when the last neaderthal died out in spain.

If you dont fill in the race box they will fill it in for you. Eventhough this information says its voluntary they must have it to receive funding. Same thing goes for a mortgage application - you can not get a mortgage without filling in the race section - how do I know this - I tried leaving it blank and it was refused repeatedly.

Sounds like an Internet hoax to me.
Besides, everyone KNOWS that conservatives can't mount a decent protest. Only Socialists can muster the mobs to stage city-stopping riots. Conservatives can only get a dozen forlorn people on the curb wherever She Who Must Not Be Named moves among the great unwashed.

Race certainly does have something to do with how people see the world, as you said. So does being married, being gay, being blonde, being religious and just about any thing else one can be. That doesn't mean we should force diversity in all those areas.
Anecdotal. The story is anecdotal. It is not the definitive source of all knowledge regarding affirmative action. No human experience is. The trouble is, there's no way to argue against any methods of college acceptance because it is secretive. So, nothing can ever be proved. Pretty convenient, isn't it?
Maybe my dad can explain it a bit better to me, hopefully with crayons.
I'm not set in my ways, actually. Keep trying.

Stand corrected on the first statement.
Am I right on the second?

I've heard of folks changing their name to Hernandez so they qualify for Hispanic affirmative action. My ace in the hole (um) is that I'm gay. Not really, but how's a lib gonna know?

I think what you say is unfortunately true, Old Sarge. So, I may have wasted my time. But I thought I'd give it a shot to see if there was enough interest from students who are against affirmative action.
To: Javelina
I'm not doing much to convince people to change their views on affirmative action. That's not the intent of the site, nor of my original post here. It was just to let people know about the site.
There are many pundits, lobbyists, columnists and politicians out there who have a lot better things to say about it than I. On the site, I link to what other people have to say in the articles section. NoRace.org is there for people who are against affirmative action to do something about it. If you don't believe me, just look at how pitiful my brief introduction to affirmative action is on the web site.
And regarding the mentioned gullibility of the masses who may (or may not) see my site? I trust people to choose for themselves. I think we, the great unwashed masses, can make up our own minds.

How about not marking anything at all?

Is it a crime to misrepresent your ancestry? It surely can't be a crime to tell the exact truth. And I'd bet that nearly everybody in the USA is mixed-race to at least some degree.
To: cyborg
That generally just lumps you in with "over represented" groups, and maintains the status quo. AND (for Javelina) if one is fine with the status quo, then that's TOTALLY FINE.
Or, mark it in crayons. :-|

they left it blank...leaving it blank does not make them liars.

You do have the right to do whatever you want. I respectfully disagree with using dishonorable tactics. College students need to learn integrity and honesty. Liberals are great at duping the system, lying and scheming. I'm not sure if I'd feel comfortable knowing I lied to get into a school. A guidance counselor told me do that once, and i did. Not worth the trouble. I left the school... I was not raised to be a liar. When you compromise morality and values, nothig good comes of it. Trust me.

I really expected everyone to take this lying down. The fairer race doesn't protest anything it seems. Maybe times they are a changing.
