[history]
Prominent California Republicans are sharply increasing the pressure on state Sen. Tom McClintock to drop out of the gubernatorial recall election, clearing the field for Arnold Schwarzenegger after a poll showed the actor's performance in Wednesday night's debate was well-received.

We voted for Bill Simon and we lost. Bill now supports Arnold. We compromised last time on the Governorship. It's your turn. Even Bill agrees.
Simon won a primary. Schwarzenegger didn't. Annointings at the Bohemian Grove aren't a viable substitute. This isn't a general election, it's a recall and replacement election. Get a new strategy.

To: strela
excuse me , but I saw him get HIS ass kicked by Tom in the debate, he could barely put a sentence together in the first ten minutes... impressive after weeks of prep for a pro on cue cards. He almost got it kicked by the Greek Witch as well other than getting laughs for the scripted one liners.
Ahnull's answer for rebuilding CA?... "more infrastructure"
what a brilliant mind to send to Sacramento. He should stick to T4 where he gets stand ins and retakes. What a sorry choice for republicans...

Get a new strategy.
I see. So following the support of the last person to win the party's nomination for governor needs a new strategy? I suppose Brulte, who was Tom's most effective money raiser, who has come out in support of Arnold also needs a new strategy too, right?
We both agree on the question of illegals, and I doubt that anything will ever be done until the US Government is sued for the bill that California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas has to swallow right now. Arnold says he's going to put forward that suit - I know Cruz won't, and I know Davis won't. Since that's the three likely to win the election, which do you want to support?

Why is McClintock so determined to see California revert permanently to Mexico?

THe problem with Tom McClintock getting out is that if he does many of his supporters may decide to stay home and if they do the recall vote may not go through. The best situation is that Tom get the marginal one-issue vote only to insure the recall goes thru.

The parallel in the story of Rommel to McClintock is that a man of principle is being forced out by men of lesser principles. This situation is typically anathema to the progression of the general good.
To: Enough is ENOUGH
O.......kay. I get that part. But Maybe we can find someone who's in a better fight than the one Rommel was in, to compare Tom to?

No, a liberal Republican passing left-wing legislation with a Democratic legislature is the WORST possible scenerio. That guarantees it will be eight years before a conservative candidate with he right ideas could emerge.
A liberal Republican set back the Republican party in California decades.
The solution is a getting true conservative elected that enacts policies that work. McClintock likely would win and do that if Arnold wasn't in the race.
To: Ol' Sparky
I agree that the solution is to get a true conservative in this office and every other.
School prayer too.
No Question that McClintock is more conservative than Ahnold. But McClintock with his hundreds of thousands of dollars from Indian gaming is not a true conservative.
There are several other conservatives running in this whose name we barley know. And they are very bit as elect able as Mc Clintock.
I predict Davis stays and allows CA drivers licenses to be issued to anyone and that California NEVER EVER sees even a republican in control let alone a conservative in charge.
Its no diff here than at the national level.
Bush is no true conservative and yet freepers love him and justify him as better than having Al Gore or Hillary in charge.
Would it be better to support a true conservative in 2006 for President even if he cannot possibly win?

"Why is McClintock so determined to see California revert permanently to Mexico?"
Because like Bust-Mecha,(Clitnon too) McClintock thinks its OK to allow foreign nations to influence US elections.

Bush may not be a true conservative. But, he isn't a flaming left-winger numerous issues that Schwartenkennedy is. In fact, who knows if Arnold is conservative on any issues. At best, he's a man of little character making up positions on the fly to get elected.
To: Lancey Howard
That he did, I felt the same way.

No, a liberal Republican passing left-wing legislation with a Democratic legislature is the WORST possible scenerio. Weld really turned Massachussetts around. Geez whats so bad about Ahnuld I don't like his gun control stuff but gun rights is political sucide in Mexifornia.

an old thread I stumbled on thanks to that link you sent me ;)
This one’s instructive, it let’s you see the rino wolfpack come out in force. McC was the real deal, and Ahnold was just what conservatives thought he would be. If you have a minute give the thread a look.
