Off the subject, but 'The Perfect Storm' was one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen. I'm sure the book was much better, though.

"8.0 is HUGH! Very series! "
ya know, the first few thousand times this popped up, it was funny. Now it is just juvenile. I would hope we are a bit above this!

"The Loss of the U.S.S. Memphis - August 29, 1916" Very interesting read, thanks.

...and he didn't even get "vey series" right.
We should know very soon whether there is a tsunami. It would be due at Shemya any second.

Does anyone have any info yet on loss of life related to this quake? Has there been any, or is the area too sparsely populated to experience much loss?
To: anniegetyourgun
Not yet, early reports of injuries.

Way too early to get an estimate yet.

We got Major movement at Yellowstone Lake, and Madison. The Lake readings going nuts, right now... Is this connected with Japan ? 8.1 Yes, indeed it is. Here, check out this link that contains dozens of seismo readings from around the world. All halfway decent helicorders will show this quake:

I have addressed this already. He made that post before we knew if this was a hoax or not (which it seemed at the time). Just because you are way behind on the thread is no reason to jump someone without even understanding what was going on. Perhaps having more patience and reading more than 9 posts before making remarks would help.

Interesting reading about the "Memphis". I had never heard of that incident before. Thanks for posting the link.

I believe the tsunami watch has been cancelled. But I would further specify that may be just for the Japanese areas. This would not prohibit something from radiating from the opposite side and travelling on to say, Hawaii.

I have been racking my brain trying to remember what channel that special was on. It was Discovery channel. The program was called "Supervolcanoes" and was produced by the BBC If you say you're using it for education, you may be able to get a tape

Don't have any such plans.
Too many of my vacations-on-a-freighter fantasies seem to end in nightmares about some ship from hell with a crew born in satan's crib.

Just because you know now it is real, is no need to jump on someone that didn't at the time. Damn...sometimes people are such idiots!!! The problem didn't come from lack of information...it came from normal FR nonsense. It is normal FR policy to diss women, people that don't fire first, and anyone that might not vote your way in your silly polls.
