Whatever happend to keelhauling or hanging the rascal from the yardarm? He's in a Navy Brig, isn't he?
WorldNetDaily.com: "CANADIAN IMAN SUPPORTS JIHAD AGAINST U.S." by Art Moore (ARTICLE SNIPPET: "A North American Muslim leader says he supports Saddam Hussein's call for jihad and believes Middle East Muslims should take up arms to expel U.S. troops from Iraq. "If I were there, I would fight with them," said Gamal Solaiman, imam of the mosque in Canada's capital, Ottawa. "I would fight the Americans with my nails and teeth," he declared Sunday in an interview with the CanWest News Service.") (April 8, 2003)
Don't make the mistake of assuming the guy must be religious. If he was converted before being politically turned, he may have been religiously motivated. But if he was politically turned before he "got religion," perhaps he is just using religion as his cover.
I can think of a lot of exceptions, but only with regard to the type of discharge.
An Islamic Chaplin hearing confessions .......... I learn something everyday.
He is an American according to the article.
An article posted on the American Muslim Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs Council site, http://www.amafandvac.org/
by Stephen Manning, The Associated Press, 10/26/2001, says "The situation may be the most delicate for 14 Muslim chaplains in the armed forces, who counsel and minister to 4,000 or more Muslim troops. (Most Muslims in the military are black, with smaller numbers of whites and Arab-Americans)."
Yee was mentioned in the article.
"While Muslims are encouraged not to fight against each other, Islamic law also has strict guidelines that forbid the killing of noncombatants, said James J. Yee, chaplain at Fort Lewis, an army base outside Tacoma, Wash.
"Yee has been busy recently, speaking with soldiers and conducting seminars on Islam in an effort to educate troops on a religion that most Americans know little about."
My googling over the years show that Muslims here in America sure spend a lot time "conducting seminars on Islam in an effort to educate" us about them. They'd better start worrying about the other way around or they will wind up in internment camps -- "One more attack here and POW! Allah, to the moon!"
sigh...................
I don't believe he had Mid East roots when he went to West Point. He developed that after leaving school.
