TOM MCCLINTOCK DAILY EDITION - 9/18/03 (CA GOVERNOR'S RACE)

Posted on 09/18/2003 6:58:02 AM PDT by Rabid Dog

Please post local, regional, national news and views on Tom McClintock. This is a news and info thread. The following guidelines for posting are per DoughtyOne's most excellent suggestion.

McClintock Camp - Supporters or Defenders

Please post positive articles about Tom's policies and leave the Schwarzenegger bashing to the Democrats.

Schwarzenegger Camp - Supporters or Defenders

The call for McClintock to withdraw right now, or the tactic of calling him and his followers names for not doing so, is not productive and isn't good for the party.

Please save the Rino Arnold/Unelectable Tom rants for other threads.

Good Morning everyone! Tom has lots of appearances today - if you are able to listen to any of them please post an update or a link.

Also, please post any articles on last night's debate. I'm sure he was wonderful and I expect the pundits are going to be hard pressed to criticize him.

All of this is all well and good but: will Senior Tomas accept the postion of Sec. of Angelo Affairs under Presidente Bustamante? When you help a guy get elected, you should not be affraid to take the spoils of victory, after all.

They just had an update on KFI on the hard-hitting "debate." Doesn't sound like we missed much. Arianna appealed to Oprah to have Bustamante on; she said the people of California have a right to know if he serves his wife breakfast in bed. They had a lightening round where they asked each candidate if they owned a gun. (Camejo and Huffington: no; McClintock and Bustamante: yes.)

They also asked about their favorite movies and books. McClintock said, "That's easy. "Free to Choose," by Milton Friedman." Arianna responded, "That's interesting. You have something in common with Arnold Schwarzenegger. He said he likes Milton Friedman, not Karl Marx."
McClintock: "Yes, but I actually read the book."

I would have a greater appreciation for your posts if they were thoughtful and informative, instead of derogatory and somewhat racist in nature.

Thanks. Lets hope at least one interviewer will ask him actual policy related questions rather than whether he plans on pulling out of the race.

Tom answered the questions and stayed on topic, Busty tried to "act" involved and almos showed some life, Aeroheadianna went off on her usual rants and cracked jokes as usual, and Peter tried to outrant Aeroheadianna and was more serious than a bad case of diarrhea... jmo ;-)

All the folks who keep covering for Arnold really have painted themselves in a corner by this avoid the debates and live in a controlled. scripted environment.

How come there hasn't been any press coverage on the debate? Have you seen anything? I just did a search on the LA Times and come up empty. Nothing in SacBee either.

Some news about it is in some of the recall articles today. Check the 9/17 Daily thread. :-)

I saw it on CSpan last night and was doing a running commentary on another thread until a disruptor popped up on the thread.

I'm too busy to get to it at FR today, but I posted a transcript of Arnold on Larry King, and a news piece on the Arnold-less debate at

http://www.declaration.net

early this AM

Cheers,

McClintock was OUTSTANDING on last night's Hannity and Combs. I was flipping back and forth between Tom and Aronold on Larry King.

Arnold is a slick celebrity.

Tom is an "issues oriented" patriot.

I caught part of the debate on CSPAN last night. I really enjoyed it. For the most part, I thought the questions were better than the last one, and the format allowed a lot of sparring between the candidates. Tom came across much more relaxed than he often does on TV (e.g. his Hannity and Colmes appearance yesterday).

Bustamante and Camejo took several slams at Arnold for not showing up. There was even an empty chair on the stage for Arnold. Bustamante also had a really good suggestion that all the candidates other than Arnold hold their own unscripted, off-the-cuff debate outside the auditorium of the one scheduled on the 24th, and leave Arnold inside with his answers to the "take-home test." ROFL. Such a ploy would be a good way to call the Arnold camp's bluff on not wanting the questions to be released ahead of time--as if they could not participate in another debate rather than demand the format and rules be changed solely on their behalf.

I was also glad that they asked Bustamante a pointed question about MECHA and Aztlan. He came across as dumb as a box of rocks. My concerns about him being elected were greatly allayed. He is so dumb and so corrupt that he would probably be led off by the FBI in handcuffs within months. He doesn't seem to have Gray's craftiness at all.
