Ah, the essentials (cash, ice and beer). Stay safe, and see you tomorrow.

I think so, too.

I don't think it's going to stall, but who knows.

If you look up the thread, you can see the last graphic I posted from WRAL with the likely landfall and winds.

Good luck to her.

I've been watching and reading all of the coverage on this for days now and not once have I heard them speculate that it would stall.

Just the opposite in fact, they are expecting this big bad girl to really get a move on once she reaches land fall and move out to the north quickly.

Hope that helps.

You're a sweetie.

when I met the bus this afternoon and we were walking up the driveway she say the tape hubby had put on the front and side doors - trying to explain that to her proved very difficult. She doesn't want this storm to come.

Later, when we came home from the store - she had a different attitude - "I'm glad daddy put the tape onthe door -- it looks cool, I hope he lets me keep it there after the storm is gone"

"BTW, how many people have been banned on this thread today?"

I think only one person was suspended, and, of course, he's from AZ.

You are not in the path of the Izzy, are you, blam?

Thanks a bunch and I do hope you are correct. After watching this storm for the past few days, I was rather surprised to hear that scenario.

Watching the events unfold here in Philly and remembering what it was like in NC under a hurricane keeps me a bit antsy.

I'm signing off for tonight with prayers for all of you in harms way. Stay safe, stay dry, and see ya in the mornin"

"and she said she heard a local report that Lizzie may stall over top of NC."

We had a hurricane stall in Mobile Bay a few years ago...There were one inch headlines on the newspaper, The Hurricane That Won't Go Away!!"
It just slowly tore everything in the area to shreads.

Fran's top winds quickly dropped to 100 mph after it slammed into Cape Fear, N.C., but the storm still caused damage on its way north to Wilmington and Raleigh. After submerging beach towns, ripping steeples off churches and snapping trees like sticks in its terrorizing path through the Carolinas, a weakened Hurricane Fran turned into a tropical storm when it winds dropped below 74 mph early Sept. 6, while swirling into Virginia.

Gale force winds between 39 and 73 mph lashed the Chesapeake Bay and heaped water into the Potomac River around the nation's Capitol where it backed up into Georgetown and Old Town, Virginia. Tree limbs crashed to the ground as far north as Maryland and tornadoes briefly spun up in parts of Virginia.

Again, I have to ask... if their best guess is 86-92 mph, why does the official report not say that? Am I missing something here?

When more than one method is available, they make a best guess, tossing out the data that doesn't agree with the consesnus. Also, it was mentioned that while the top flight-level winds found by the last hunter were only 100 knots, the plane hadn't finished its mission yet. The next advisory may well feature a reduction in speed if higher winds aren't found between 11 and 2.

A similar situation was earlier today, where the hunter found high flight-level winds that would've supported a Catagory 3 declaration, but sensors that were dropped measured lower speeds than expected down near the surface.

To be honest I didn't go get her.

It was the bus driver this morning who told my husband school was only half day today.

Even if they didn't close school the rest of the week - I had no intention of sending her tomorrow. The area around the elementary school is prone to flash flooding.

A cracked tooth? Slippy will come to the rescue. Do you have any wax around? Melt the wax a little bit to make it pliable. Then form it around the cracked tooth. Honestly, it works. You won't even feel the nerve. You have to get the air off of the nerve.

I did this years ago for a friend. He thought I was a genius. Nope, not a genius. Have plenty of brothers and sisters. We just pass things around.
