Dunno about the moving radar on here, but the
NWS Morehead radar (composite long-range loop) is showing the different speeds. She may well be tightening up and letting the outer band do what it will.

Heard Jerry Kilgore say he was going to the game. ;-)I believe you're right.
They're supposed to have a ceremony dedicating the new Jerry Kilgore Athletic Center at halftime; I was looking forward to seeing it.
Take care.

It seems to be a Maryland tradition to stock up on massive amounts of toilet paper at any hint of a storm. I'm not sure why but I do hope you did not neglect that commodity.
We just had a rinky-dink storm in DC a few weeks ago that knocked out power for days and also water. When (and if???? wishful thinking)the storm starts, I'm going to fill the bathtubs and every container I own with water. I think the possibilty of a few days without electrity is a given.
Kids are super excited about this and the prospect of sleeping in the sub-basement tommorrow night . They have even packed suitcase for this most excellent adventure. (Little do they know that if we loose power, every single meal they will be served will either be canned tuna or grilled meat.)
All in all, this can't be any worse than the ice storm we had several years. The fact that it was physically imposssible to leave our house in the event of an emergency drove me nuts. Jeez, I hated that.
Prepare for spoiled food and boredom but other than that I think we all will be OK.

Excerpts from the 11PM discussion...
Isabel lacks a well-defined inner core and deep convection is minimal at this time.
The filling in of the eye is good news, of course, and it also makes it difficult to get much of a feel for the track, whether you're looking at the water vapor loops, the infra-red, or whatever, but I swear it looks like it's heading closer to due north in the past few hours. Ah, well, probably just wishful thinking on my part. Not that I wish MD or points north any harm either, of course, but if it starts to turn, maybe it will keep doing so; furthermore, it should weaken if it passes Hatteras still off shore -- granted, not many authorities think it will stay off shore that long, but hope remains.
In fact...satellite intensity estimates suggest that maximum winds are on the order of 75 to 80 knots [= 86 to 92mph!].
Again, I have to ask... if their best guess is 86-92 mph, why does the official report not say that? Am I missing something here?

Everyone in Texas should stay home when snow sticks overnight. It's always mixed with ice and people drive like it's nothing to worry about.(SMASH! Crash!)

I was surprised - all the stores had water today. I didn't need any - which of course is probably why they had it !!!!!
I took care of the cash yesterday - to be on the safe side!!! I filled my van on Saturday and still have more than 3/4tank so since it was raining when I went out earlier - I didn't bother topping it off.
I did buy more ice and another case of beer, though!!!!

I just talked to my daughter in NC... rt 306 in Aurora, those storm tracks go right over her house... and she said she heard a local report that Lizzie may stall over top of NC.
Has anyone else heard this? Perhaps this was a reference to one of the many storms that make NC their favorite landfall party spot?
I tend to worry about her and the 4 younguns... they are riding out the storm and when I asked if she had contingency plans she said... hey Mom, we have 2 boats! Is it any wonder why I worry?

Over here on Eastern LI, I've been watching very closely the direction and intensity of this potential killer. Hurricane Gloria's eye passed right over us in '84, and then fell apart. It wasn't a very powerful storm, but it snapped trees apart with no problem.
Maples seemed to be especially vulnerable, and oaks were just tipped over everywhere. Some folks were without power for over a week. I remember at least a couple of freezing showers, LOL!
The worst part was when the initial winds hit the area.
I hope everyone in the area of landfall takes the proper precautions to secure life and property! Hurricanes are capricious events, and you never know when they will change direction and hit you full force! Be safe!

A better view (at least for the moment because it has 4 bands instead of 3) is
Wilmington (same long-range composite loop). The 3 bands further out are still synchronized, which isn't good news.
