That's too bad, and selfishly I sure hope there's something left so I can get over there to do my family history research.

I'm just wondering if I should be putting my toilet paper in a baggie too!! Local weather here seems to be poo-pooing our chances for much effect.

Has Dave Schwartz ever done one of these onsite gigs? Can't remember that. Wouldn't that be a trip??!!

Good thing he didn't test it during the hurricane. That almost would've been better. All that water coming down would've been helpful.

Yep, we'll see how the old plywood on Emerald Isle holds up... at least we're below the live oaks which have been there forever...

This is still, hands down, the best story so far.
Woman, 70, hurls knife at husband who wouldn't prepare for hurricane
Port St. Lucie News
Posted September 16 2003
Port St. Lucie · With Hurricane Isabel churning in the west Atlantic on Sunday, a 70-year-old woman hurled a knife at her husband because he chose to watch football instead of preparing for the storm, police said Monday.
Joan W. Harris faces a felony aggravated-battery charge in connection with the Sunday-afternoon incident, according to an arrest affidavit.
"Apparently, the argument began while the husband was watching football, and the wife was insisting he make hurricane preparations for Hurricane Isabel," said police spokesman Officer Kacey Donnell. "He refused and said that he'd get to it at halftime."

What I want to know is when will Dan Rather show up? This isn't an official hurricane until we see a shot of him getting pummled by wind and rain.

Between Carol and Diane, I stood right where Bert's Surf Shop is; the water was up to my knees.
Of course, that was when the road ended at Salter Path.

Can anyone tell me how they think this will effect air travel on Thursday? Especially from Roanoke to DC to NY Thursday evening?? Also, what happens if the weather is too bad to land in DC; is the flight rerouted or do they not take off to begin with? not an experienced traveler here and am scared for a loved one... should we consider not flying?(no refunds on UA?)? any advice or answers are appreciated!
To: Miss Marple
LOL!Don't worry, Rather's probably on his way, as we write!
To: Gabz
Wow. Better keep watching it.
Oh, TWC just said she's moving WNW!

If it comes in on its current path Long Island will not be affected too much. Some rain and high winds. However, as stated, hurricanes are too unpredicatable to write it off at this stage. Best to continue preparing for it and keep an eye on the weather channel until it makes landfall.

And last but not least, make sure you keep your toilet paper dry. Won't be a problem for me - no power = no water!!!!
But seriously - your advice on testing new equipment today makes perfect sense.

I could see throwing the knife if it were during the Monday Night game, but Sunday is sacred (besides, hurricanes give you some time to prep nowadays).
Where did Don King get his patriotism? It seems he wants to hold a boxing exhibition in Baghdad for the troops.
