The violent, passionate James Bowie is being played by...JASON PATRIC!!! Give me a break! He has one expression: sullenly bored. Billy Bob Thornton as David Crockett! This version of 'The Alamo' ought to be a real doozy!!

Jason Patric gives me real problems too.
I think BillyBob will be fine as Davy Crockett, who was essentially all used up before he ever came to Texas.
Quaid can certainly pull off Houston, though he looks a bit young on the "Alamo" website.
Patrick Wilson is fine to play the suicidal little twit Travis.

Texans fight about this stuff all the time anyway, the movie will just give us focus.

"men of all races"? Really? Anyone on this thread know if that's an accurate statement?

I don't know of any orientals at the Alamo, but everyone else was at least represented.

In the Hollywood version, the Alamo has a back door and the defenders become heros by hiding out in Albuquerque.

Looking forward to a movie not inspired by a bad 1970's TV show.

This is going to be good.

Is the real version (with the Duke) available on DVD?

Absolutely. Got it at Best Buy last year for $10. Whatta steal.

When the ad says "all races" it must be referring to the three main races: Caucasion, Negroid, and Mongoloid (Asian.)

If there were no Asians at the Alamo, then the statement is only 2/3 correct.

Of course, if they're only referring to three races, and not all the so-called sub-races, then it's a pretty silly statement, phrased the way it is.

I think it is an inclusive gesture, for there were hispanics on both sides, and almost everyone involved, Hispanic and Anglo was, after all, a Mexican Citizen.

the scene where the 2 lesbian defenders kill a mexican general is well worth the price of a ticket!

(just kidding)

I just reviewed the website and trailer of this movie which is being released this week. In reading through the educator's guide (available as a download), it seems clear that this movie is politically corrected history. Just look at the section regarding two sides to every conflict. They include references to Iraq, Cuba..... Teachers are urged to get students to see both "sides" to every conflict.
It seems that in the minds of PC Historians there is absolutely never a moral high ground. I would like to see the 'educator' justify Hitler's 'side' or maybe Stalin's 'side'! I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Look at how many 'statesmen' of the world see "Arafat's" side, "Saddam's" side, "Bin Laden's" side.....
