Thanks for sharing that flashback in memory.

Today's been nostalgia day. I've been mostly listening to favorite "slow dancin'" songs. ("Twilight Time," various Air Supply, Bobby Vinton, Ronnie Dove, etc.) ... Just listened to Al Martino's "Daddy's Little Girl" -- a bittersweet song my late father sang to me ... and my other sisters, too, of course; for some reason, younger siblings think they DESERVE equal time. One still tells me that I'm not the boss (but she's wrong). ;)

Since it's nostalgia time: My dad could yodel, but the only yodelling song I remember has "mockingbirds humming" in the lyrics. Anybody have any idea what that song would be?

One song I NEVER thought I'd miss: When dad gave up smoking, he'd whistle "Wabash Cannon Ball" ... seemingly almost constantly ... when he wasn't eating mashed potatoes and gravy with lots of pepper on 'em. ;)

Song: Rocky Top

Wish that I was on Ole Rocky Top,
Down in the Tennessee Hills.
Ain't no smoggy smoke on Rocky Top,
Ain't no telephone bills.

Once there was a girl on Rocky Top,
Half bear the other half cat.
Wild as a mink, sweet as soda pop,
I still dream about that.

Rocky Top, you'll always be
Home sweet home to me.
Good ole Rocky Top,
Rocky Top Tennessee, Rocky Top Tennessee.

Once two strangers climbed on Rocky Top,
Lookin' for a moonshine still.
Strangers ain't come back from Rocky Top,
Guess they never will.

Corn won't grow at all on Rocky Top,
Dirt's too rocky by far.
That's why all the folks on Rocky Top
Get their corn from a jar.

Rocky Top, you'll always be
Home sweet home to me.
Good ole Rocky Top,
Rocky Top Tennessee, Rocky Top Tennessee.

Now I've had years of cramped up city life,
Trapped like a duck in a pen.
Now all I know is it's a pity life
Can't be simple again.

Rocky Top, you'll always be
Home sweet home to me.
Good ole Rocky Top,
Rocky Top Tennessee, Rocky Top Tennessee.

Rocky Top Tennessee, Rocky Top Tennessee.
Yeah Rocky Top Tennesee eee eee eee.

Don't be sad, Auntie Fawnn! Get up and let's jam to the banjo!! *HUGS*

Song: My Girl

I've got sunshine
On a cloudy day.
When it's cold outside,
I've got the month of May.

Well, I guess you'll say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl. (My girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl. (My girl)

I've got so much honey
The bees envy me.
I've got a sweeter songThan the birds in the trees.

Well, I guess you'll say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl. (My girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl. (My girl)

Ooooh, Hoooo.

Hey, hey, hey.
Hey, hey, hey.

I don't need no money,
Fortune or fame.
I've got all the riches, baby,
One man can claim.

Well, I guess you'll say
What can make me feel this way?
My girl. (My girl, my girl)
Talkin' 'bout my girl. (My girl)

Talkin' bout my girl.
I've got sushine on cloudy day
With my girl.
I've even got the month of MayWith my girl.

Mojo's Dad used to sing this song to her when she was a little girl! Of course, he's not speaking to her  today because she missed the flight out Virginia this morning that he insisted the boys and her be on to come home. So? MoJo's dad isn't very happy with MoJo. But MoJo's mom understands!

Fawnn, you just reminded me of another favorite duo of mine when you mentioned "mockingbirds humming." How about some Seals and Crofts, Mojo? THANK YOU!

Mojo, have you ever heard of the group Kalapana? Another old favorite of mine.
