Hurricane Isabel is falling apart and fast. Re-Con planes have been flying in the storm since midnight and the entire west quad of the storm has disappeared. The eastern portion of the storm has a wind around 110KTS. There is discussion that re-strengthening will occour within 24 hours though so this still remains a threat.
Pressure has dramatically risen as well. Discussion currently is Isabel making landfall in either Northern South Carolina or Southern North Carolina and a due north move after landfall. Thinking is a landfalling Category 2 minimal 3 storm.

The Weather Channel is useless...totally useless. I am sorry but Dr.Steve Lyons has NEVER impressed me...and John Hope (rest his soul), never did anything for me as well. They are/were piss poor OCM's. Give me Jim Cantore,Max Mayfield, Frank, and Dave Schwartz for severe weather i.e. hurricanes.

That's mainly due to the cooler waters north of the Gulf Stream. That's also due to the fact that the coast in that stretch trends north-south, whereas most hurricanes moving up the coast parallel it at that stretch. A cat 4 hurricane moving at 20 mph would not weaken significantly if it were to track directly from the SSW at, say, Ocean City Maryland.

TWC is for entertainment purposes only....all eye candy....and hype. They have to hype, as that is how they sell ads. Well, that and tight skirts.
Wonder who is next to get prego...

hey Nexus...ive been looking at all sorts of sat pics...both visible and infrared...there just is no "blowing up" at all....there isnt even an eye any more...just a center of circulation...no wall...as reported by recon flights also....
Isabel may eventually restrengthen...but once again i just dont see any signs of it....nor does the NHC...nor do the hunters.

My mom just called to tell me a lady she works with went through Agnes in Prince William in 1972, and there was 20 ft of water where she lived, up to the roof of her house. I guess they were close to the Occoquan. Agnes was only a Category 1 but caused a lot of flooding.

I "introduced" my son to Schwartz last night. He was saying "that dude is hard core" while ROFL. He really tripped when Schwartz said "stay with us 'cause we have this baby covered" when referencing Isabel. Dave now has a new 17 yo fan.

Hmm. All those lines on your map are in close proximity to my house in Stafford, Virginia. I hope my renters have sense enough to move to the basement in case that huge tree beside the house topples over onto the bedroom.

if you are seeing the clear spot in the visible as the eye then that may be the confusion...the clear spot is dry air entrained to the west of the actual center of circulation...not an eye reforming.

Wonder who is next to get prego...That's funny... we're always joking about it too.
Kristin Dodd just had a baby, BTW.

To: fatima
I've got to tell you...taping the windows is, litterally, window dressing....all it does is hold the shards together when the window shatters....learned from experience (Andrew).
That said, use masking tape from the inside...unless you want to be scraping duct tape off your window for years to come.
To: fatima
I would use duct tape on the inside. The tape won't stop the window from shattering it just helps to keep the pieces from scattering when the window gives way.
Afterward, use "Oops" to remove the glue residue.

Oh, and another thing...sliding glass doors are really quite strong and very flexible....in Andrew, ours were bowing a good inch or two and they did not shatter, but just popped out of the tracks.

Speaking of which...Jenetta Jones looks FINE now...whew! She lost all that baby weight...looks damn good.

I am back...had to sleep before...power sleep was needed was up all night. I am enjoying the discussion today...it totally proves that science has come far...but nowhere near where it needs to get to. Isabel is getting her act together...the dry spots are there but the forecasters are really doing coin tosses today.
It's quite amusing....amusing until it comes within another 300 miles that is.
