Right now Ted "The Swimmer" Kennedy is carrying the water for Al Qaeda. Remember: these weapons can be developed as LOW YIELD nuclear bombs to PINPOINTEDLY TARGET terrorist cells in caves like Tora Bora, etc.
Of course, the liberals want to cut these weapons.

Ted Kennedy, three or four times in the last 3 minutes has reminded us that "Republicans and Democrats" have worked toward NON-proliferation of nukes.
Swimmer says there is no such thing as a "mini nuke". "A nuke is a nuke is a nuke is a nuke" he says. Of course, he cuts a fine line when it comes to what a lie is.

Swimmer Kennedy reminds us that OTHER countries might want to develop weapons. The swimmer obviously hasn't been reading the news about Iran lately.

The Swimmer is handed a note by a staffer, and steps down a moment. Now Find-Stein, whose hubby is a big businessman with the Chinese, takes the floor.

Find-Stine, who wants to cut funds for these weapons, reads some House of Representatives document. Even the parliamentarian is yawning.

You know, this is just typical of liberals...wanting to CUT funds for new weapons programs. As long as we're blowing out the budget for social welfare, that's great. Protect this country? Screw off, say the libs.

This is good. A little fiscal responsibility finally. At least someone is looking out for the taxpayer.

Sen. Feinstein trying to defund the one of the weapon systems that the burrowed-in Axis of Evil truly understand. For starters, they are a deterrant against governments and organizations with the subterranean labs churning out WMD. Hiding unde a rock will not protect them.
Second, their lower yield and underground denation is inherantly much "cleaner" (yes, I know that this is a euphamism for something really bad) than using a surface-burst weapons to do the same job. As much as the Left beats their chest about "Saving the Earth," they're more concerned about disarming and neutering America.
Last, to perform the same task with conventional weapons would a significant number of take many cruise missiles strikes or manned missions to have the same effect. There would be a higher propability of American flight crew losses when dropping conventional bombs just becuase such a strike would have to be more aircraft and more missions.
This is a weapons technology that may never have to be used but the domestic opposition is hell bent on making certain that our enemies won't have to face all the possible weapons in our arsnel if such a time were to come.
