What i think is gonna happen is that the vast majority of FReepers will think "those wacky liberals" and then return to what they were doing.
To do a class-action suit you have to 1) believe in it, 2) believe it is worth doing, 3) believe in our jurisprudence system to the point that restitution or restoration of one's reputation is coming.
I just don;t think the majority of FReepers are there.
You would get a lot more reaction if Hillary! had said it rather than a Debbie Reyes (who the heck is she?).

Triple post? Nah. Just a strong emphasis on your words :))
You are right. AND that is exactly what I don't want to see happen. By the time someone like Hillary does something...it will be too late. The left does stuff little by little. They creep like a cancer. By the time everyone wakes up, it will be too late.
To tell you the truth, I have NO idea what is involved in a law suit. Never been in one. But I know enough about marketing to see there is something else going on behind the seens.
The left is counting on silence from the majority. They are counting on "When it happens in my backyard, then, yada yada yada".
I really wish we can get everyone together to show a force. The FR Network leaders may be the ones to do it.

Thanks for posting this! We are consulting with our attorney actually! We shall see how this all turns out, but this is an outrage! Thank God the Mayor is on our side!

Trust me, this group exists now simply to shut the mouths of conservatives. They have caused all kinds of trouble lately.

Then, prepare for the slander suit.My attorney has already told my husband and I that we have a good case for libel, slander, and defamation of character.

KMJ 5 Oclock News
The following is the report that was recorded from KMJ five oclock news .
KMJ Anchor Reporter-
The mayor says he wants to suspend the city committee that monitors discrimination and hate crimes after the Human Relations Commissions chair woman called the Fresno organization a hate group. Autry was reacting to a news release issued by the commissions chairwoman who said the hate group called the Free Republic was organizing a rally.
KMJs Michia Cradia (sp) has more
Debbie Reyes has come under fire for sending out a news release last Friday warning that rallies on Friday and Saturday by the Free Republic could include violence. It said the Human Relations Commission says references to violence on the groups website have since been deleted but they havent been lost.
Voice of Debbie Reyes-
Apparently they have been saved- uh, there are people out there that have them on a hard disk and they are making copies as we speak right now, for me.
Reporter:
And Reyes says their saved web pages include threats against others who might show up at the rallies. She quotes one page as saying we are going to have our guns full- and the message goes on to add that bullets are two bucks apiece and it might not be worth wasting them on liberals.
Mayor Allan Autry said hed seek to suspend the Human Relations Group for calling the Free Republic a hate group.
End of coverage about Free Republic

You need to improve your capacity to distinguish one thing from another.
It is one thing for a government official, on official letterhead to pronounce to the press and to law enforcement that a group is a "hate group" with the intention of this pronouncement being acted upon by police and the community, and it is another thing entirely for some anonymous keyboard warrior to post onto a website that the NAACP is a "hate group".
One carries the weight and "authority" of a government body, and the other carries no weight at all.

I couldn't agree with you more, Spodefly. And another factor is the fact that JimRob has no control over who posts on FR - other than to suspend someone if they post violent comments or make racial remarks.
The fact that FReepers have NEVER EVER been accused of acting in a violent manner, the fact that even D.C. police know and trust the ever-faithful FReepers there, should stand for something in a court of law.
I defy Anyone on that wacky commission to find ONE arrest charge against law-abiding church-going FReepers. ONE.
Hate group my fanny.

If a private individual should note outloud that the ACLU is a "hate group", that's one thing. If the government issues a dicta declaring the ACLU to be a "hate group", that's something else again.
Same here. We have a jackbooted thug in his disguise as the HRC of Fresno issuing a dicta under government letter head to the effect that we are a "hate group".
Now is the time for smart lawyers everywhere to begin measuring the Fresno taxbase for harvest.

"But I thought we were all members of the VRWC!
I dont want to be a "militant", as that term automatically conjures images of unwashed, frothing at the mouth, leftist liberals.
I do wish they would stop trying to define us by their peers."

Oh OK-
on the "uninvited guests" thread, I was not particularly "hatefull", but I am a registered regular poster at Free Republic, so am I a certified hate group member or not?
I eagerly await the wise judgement of a city official in Fresno, California! Perhaps I should not post, untill the courts have had a chance to judge me.
I am currently revamping my resume, and I do try to be as accurate as possible!
Can I get extra pain and suffering, for the damage done to my self-esteem, while I fearfully await the judgement from Fresno?
I am feeling extremely disenfranchised....
