got sick in 71? More like held up by airport police in El Paso. I'll never remember that one. He was like the first celebrity caught with pot case.

R.I.P., Johnny Cash.
The world has lost one of the greatest singers ever, and I feel like I've lost a friend.
Let The Train Blow The Whistle
I don't want no aggravation
When my train has left the station
If you're there or not, I may not even know
Have a round and remember
Things we did that weren't so tender
Let the train blow the whistle when I go
On my guitar sell tickets
So someone can finally pick it
And tell the girls down at the Ritz I said hello
Tell the gossipers and liars
I will see them in the fire
Let the train blow the whistle when I go
Let her blow, let her blow
Long and loud and hard and happy
Let her blow
No regrets, all my debts will be paid
When I get laid
Let her blow, let her blow, let her blow
You'll be left without excuses
For the evils and abuses
Down to today from years and years ago
And have yourself another toke
From my basket full of smoke
And let the train blow the whistle when I go
Let her blow, let her blow
Long and loud and hard and happy
Let her blow
No regrets, all my debts will be paid
When I get laid
Let her blow, let her blow, let her blow

and oh yeah, he's the modern patriarch of C&W. Not C, but C&W. He performed (and mostly wrote) songs that held up regardless of your taste in music.

I witnessed the Johnny Cash show concerts twice live. They were wonderful. RIP Johnny Cash and thank you for all the great music, history and hope.

RIP Johnny.
I was never much of a country fan, but always had a soft spot for Johnny Cash. He's now with his wife and brother Jack in "a beautiful city" with "angels singing" that Jack told him about.

(D) He turned the (G) water into (D) wine,
He turned the (G) water into (D) wine.
In the little Canaan (D7) town,
The (G7) word went all (D) around, that
He turned the (G) water into (D) wine.
Well, He fed the hungry multitude.
He fed the hungry multitude.
With a little bit of fish and bread,
They say everyone was fed.
He fed the hungry multitude.
(F) (C) He (F) walked upon the (Bb) sea of Gali(F)lee.
(C) He (F) walked upon the (Bb) sea of Gali(F)lee.
He shouted far and wide,
He (Bb7) calmed the raging tide.
And (F) walked upon the (Bb) sea of Gali(F)lee.
He healed the leper and the lame.
He healed the leper and the lame.
He said, "Go and tell no man,"
But they shouted it through the land, that
He healed the leper and the lame.
(D) He turned the (G) water into (D) wine,
He turned the (G) water into (D) wine.
In the little Canaan (D7) town,
The (G7) word went all (D) around, that
He turned the (G) water into (D) wine.

Bilbo's wife: Nice to "see" you!! I, too, had hoped to make it over to see the flag display in Clarksville, but I didn't make it, either.
By the way - I don't know if you remember - but I think I may have run into you at Highlander's Jay C a while back.
Anyway - I think I'm going to stay off of FR and current events for a little while. As much as I love FR and keeping up with things - I think I need to get away from it all for a bit. It's starting to get to me. Too many bad, sad things are going on in my life and in the world around me. I don't mean to sound all negative and gloom and doom - but I think I need a break.

Snoop Doggy Dog--2003 God bless Johnny Cash. As successful as he was, he was never a "sellout." He always sang from the heart and didn't seem to give a rip about the latest musical trend. He was real. His music was real.
I have said it before on FR, and I'll say it again: Johnny Cash is the man.

Of the two shows I witnessed one was a regular one with ticketing the other was an open air general admission one. Both were great shows. I came away from them thinking two words...living legend. Thanks for the career summary.

When the Man Comes Around
Words and music: Johnny Cash
Intro: (spoken)
And I heard as it were the noise of thunder,
One of the four beasts saying: 'Come and see'
and I saw, and behold a white horse
There's a man goin' round takin' names
And he decides who to free and who to blame
Everybody won't be treated all the same
There'll be a golden ladder reaching down
When the Man comes around
The hairs on your arm will stand up
At the terror in his sip and in his sup
Will you partake of that last offered cup
Or disappear into the potters' ground
When the Man comes around
Chorus:
Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers
One hundred million angels singing
Multitudes are marching to the big kettle drum
Voices calling, voices crying
Some are born and some are dying
It's Alpha and Omega's kingdom come.
And the whirlwind is in the thorn tree
And the virgins are all trimming their wicks
The whirlwind is in the thorn tree
It's hard for thee to kick against the pricks
'Till armageddon no shalam no shalom
Then the father-hen will call his chickens home
The wise men will bow down before the throne
And at his feet they'll cast their golden crowns
When the Man comes around
Whoever is unjust let him be unjust still
Whoever is righteous let him be righteous still
Whoever is filthy let him be filthy still
Listen to the words long written down
When the Man comes around
Repeat Chorus
In measured hundredweight and penny pound
When the Man comes around.
Outro: (spoken)
And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts,
and I looked and behold a pale horse and his name
that sat on him was death, and hell followed with him

I still miss someone
at my door the leaves are falling
a cold wild wind has come
sweethearts still walk by together
and i still miss someone
i go out on a party
and look for a little fun
but i find a darkened corner
because i still miss someone
oh, no i never got over those blues eyes
i see them every where
i miss those arms that held me
when all the love was there
i wonder if she's sorry
for leavin' what we'd begun
there's someone for me somewhere
and i still miss someone
