My feeling is of determination. Yes, there is anger and disgust, but I have more of a quiet determination. Solid in my country and what it stands for and what must be done.
I'm so disappointed in my block. I'm the only house with a flag out. I have a large poster of "We Will Never Forget" that I made in my picture window. Obviously my neighbors need to be reminded of what they must do.
A lady I know walked by and we talked briefly about politics. She is the "we must try to understand type". Yech!

My only regret was that I couldn't find a mosque to do it in front of. Mitigating factor is that there aren't any mosques around here. That's more than a mitigating factor. It's a negating factor--turns regret into joy!

I'm on the bus coming in this AM, talking with a good friend, a nice lady named Lou, about 9/11 and where we were (I was at a bus stop outside a gas station, on whose radio I heard about the first attack while awaiting coffee). She said that her son Trent, who graduated from high school this past June, really hadn't been able to get up for college and hadn't a clue what he wanted to do...(some vets are going to think this is sounding familiar) - commemorated the occasion by joining the United States Marine Corps. He takes the oath today. She was proud enough to pop.
Semper Fi, Trent. Vaya con dios!

Those "we must understand" people are beneath despicable.
Did people say we needed to understand Hitler and why he tried to exterminate Jews?
The terrorists have made their intent known - kill us and remove us from power. What is there in that that some people don't understand?

Thanks, Howlin. It may be late, but I would have missed this thread without your ping......
Our lives were changed on that day.
I echo what has been said many times before.......WE MUST NEVER FORGET that this War on Terror we are fighting today...... and will continue to fight long into the future.......was begun by the ENEMY.
God continue to bless this great nation, and protect it from harm!

There is something very serene about the name reading at the WTC; someone is playing classic guitar there at the site in the background. The young voices reading the names; some confident and correct; some stammering, stuttering and incorrect. It only makes it more human.
Thanks to MSNBC for carrying this net stream. It's really hard to grasp the enormity of the loss till you hear name, after name, after name, in their thousands. It, for me is the perfect way to remember today, not in reliving the visual horror once again; I've seen most of the worst of that one could without actually haven been there, and have a tape full of some of the worst that made broadcast from that day.
No commercials, no talking heads, no speculations, no flashing graphics; it's how it should be, as it happens.
It's also to me, a tribute to what the internet can offer compared to the edited, scripted, interrupted, egotistical
overbearance broadcast television is offering at the same time.

MEG33:
"Oh, there's plenty of anger and resolve." Peach: "Not on the part of the Democrats."
And that's precisely why the terrorists and their supporters desperately want the DemocRATS back in power.
The majority of the members of today's DemocRAT party in our government and media represent a (witting or unwitting) dangerous fifth column in America. They have been in control for the better part of 70 years and 9-11 is their rightful legacy.
Even in its best days, the DemocRAT party has always had *the reputation* for being weak on national defense and weak on crime.
Because of that FACT, they are NOT, never have been, and never will be, the party that believes that the FIRST duty of the federal government is to defend this country, and guard and protect our "God-given" rights.
Indeed --- they don't even believe that our rights are God-given. And because they believe that our rights are given to us by *them*, they are determined to neutralize and eventually destroy our Constitution because IT STANDS IN THEIR WAY.
They will bring this country totally down if they aren't stopped.
Therefore, anyone who claims to be a patriotic American and votes third party, sits home and doesn't vote for G.W. Bush, or votes for ANY DemocRAT (local, state, or federal), is aiding and abetting our enemies.
Protests to the contrary, *the result* of ANY of those actions or non-actions, will result in DemocRATS back in the White House and Congress.
And if that happens, those who have had their part in it will get what they so richly deserve --- the undying contempt of the rest of us and our children forever.
Abraham Lincoln:
"...All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Bonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years.
At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us.
It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. .."
Exactly, and we all know where the tip of that iceberg is:
Bush knows too:

I wish I knew what finally set off my tears. I remember seeing all the flags flying, all the messages on the stores signage as I drove....it could've been a song on the radio, something someone said. I just don't know what triggered off my sobs.
I do remember that later that day I heard from a friend. He and his family had gotten stuck at an airport and they had finally made it home. That's when he told me that a relative of his was missing, and how frantic the family was. I remember a week or so later, in yet another phone call from him, while the family still frantically searched for him, telling him that no one could possibly survive. He yeled at me for about 15 minutes, saying finally that he knew I was right, but he wasn't ready to hear that because it was too hard to bear. It was the hardest thing I've ever done.

My thoughts and prayers are with those lost family and friends that day. God bless the Walsh family, and that dear little four year old girl.
