"If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a small chance of survival. There may even be a worse case: you may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves."

And on NBC they are talking politics again. How quickly they have forgotten. Couldn't even get through the reading of names without talking politics.

Oh, there's plenty of anger and resolve. Not on the part of the Democrats.

The coverage right now on msnbc is wonderful.
They are showing the children of victims reading the names of those who died - they are so young, alot of them and so impressive and reverant. All of them read their own fathers name (or mothers too)
It's very moving to watch....

This is not self pity, it is a reminder of why our son & daughters are half a world away fighting a war. Anger does not begin to describe what I feel!

I've heard enough first-hand accounts to have a pretty good idea. My neighbor was supposed to be on the floor that first got hit. He was late so he decided to stop and smoke a cigarette across the street, then the plane hit... He was also there for the second hit (he hung around to see if he could help anyone, but all he saw were dead) after that he went home. He did a tour in Viet Nam and told me it was much worse that what he had experienced there.

might not belong here, but I feel like posting it anyway...wrote it a little while ago-
Evening in Arlington
as the last note waifs away,
and the wind dies down,
there is one solemn moment,
held forever between sorrow and hope,
surrounded by silence
and our grief for those gone
becomes a brush-
we paint our pain onto this suspended canvas,
so we may see them once more,
before they fade forever into the evening mist
before some sound stirs this field to eternal flight-
still we might remember-
as we go, this we know, God is near
