-Bush has set a new record in spending.
-Bush is letting Democrats set the tone in Washinton and caving to them when he needs to lead in a manner than proves the idiological superiority of fiscal conservatism.
-Bush is allowing Unconstitutional bills through hoping the Supreme Court shoots it down (McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform bill)
-He has let let Ted Kennedy write a MASSIVE education bill.

I have mixed feeling about GW. He has a golden opportunity to drive the Republican agenda.

I don't know if he simply lacks the cojones to do what is needed to do in a way of ramming Conservatism down the throats of the Democrats...

if if he truly does not believe completely in the GOP platform.

Of course I will still vote for him as it will come down to a 1-on-1 race against the Democrats. That does not mean that I am millions of conservative (including Rush himself) are kind of disappointed with much of GWs leadership.

Then again, Bush has done a great job in so many areas that this short post could not do it justice. I also realize that, quite often, it is members of Congress (many of which who pose as Republicans) who make impede GWs efforts.

I heard him on Hannity's radio show today. He sounded rather arrogant, to me.

true conservatives are not so dumb that they wouldn't know what their only choices are

Oh, from your mouth to God's ear! I wish it were true, but California Republicans, especially conservatives with the exception of the Reagan years, have been cutting their noses to spite their faces for decades.

There are partisans both left and right in California, but the balance of power is held by the moderates. Those people are probably well to the left of most of us on social issues like abortion and gay rights, but with us on immigration and taxation. They're looking for political leadership, not more politicians. Always have, and they've always supported the candidate that appears (not necessary truthfully) to be less a "politician" and more straightforward. They want someone at least reasonably likeable, and the mean-spirited tone of conservative Republicans in California turns moderates off like a cold shower.

A lot of this is bound up in the cultural tension no one talks about between the big central Valleys and the coastal metropolises, the Northern California suspicion of the Southern part of the state's intentions, and some of it is even traceable to a wispy remnant of the hostility of the New England stock intellectuals and business class towards the self-made immigrants, both foreign (e.g. Italians, Armenians, orientals etc.) and domestic (i.e. the poor white stock immigrants who came in the 1930's and continued to come from the South during and after WWII).

So what? You will formally RINOIZE and support, hmmmm, Tom Campbell? Brook Firestone? Zsa Zsa Huffandpuff? Maxine Waters after she turns GOP? The Hildebeast after a move to California and a party switch? If you will support Arniold, none of them should be unacceptable to you. You know that Arnold will be finished if he does not win this year. Frankly, in 2006, he will be finished if he DOES win this year. So will California.

Do you think that having a hissy fit over Bustamante will stave off the inevitable Latino majority in California? You had better learn social conservatism because the Latinos will not be interested in Muffy, Skipper, Mumsy, polo lessons or trust fund protection politics for a very long time to come.

In any event, you know that Arnold isn't goin to win. The divisions to prevent that are permanent.

Arnold is the spoiler here. Not McClintock.

The only thing Arnold is spoiling is the Patsies hope of redemption.
McC has lost and stands to lose much more. I hear WND is hiring.

Tommie can't win with just 28% of the republicans...... now tell me where the other votes are coming from?

Every vote that comes FROM Arnold and TO McClintock is a net gain of two over Arnold.

I guess I am hoping (perhaps naievely) that those voters who know McClintock is the better candidate yet fear "wasting their vote" will come around.

McClintock can win if voters would vote their minds and hearts and not play politics in trying to vote for who's leading in the polls before the actual election.

I think the debate will also provide a net Arnold loss and a net McClintock gain.

I do agree with you, it is a tough battle. But McClintock can do it. It just takes those who know he is the best choice...

to make that choice.

True Republicans support candidates who support the issues of True Republicans. ArnieCruzaDoofus are three forms of the same leftist policies. Only Arnie can destroy the GOP in California. Arnie is no more Republican than his wife's Uncle Teddy. We have a democracy and not a banana republic. People vote their preferences. Republicans vote for actual Republicans. That would be McClintock. If you think that RINOs (Demonrats in GOP drag) should be rewarded after stabbing conservatives for years, you are wrong.

Leftists like Planned Barrenhood Wilson must not be allowed to hijack the recall. People can vote McClintock or someone like him now or later. Until they do, there is no relief. No conservative owes Arnold, Wilson or Buffett ANYTHING whatsoever.

Among alternatives are retaining Doofus (this may well happen in any event given California's propensity for voter fraud and the lazy refusal of the Thurston and Lovey Howell wing of the California GOP to do anything but buy TV ads) rahe than ruining the GOP. He is term limited and will utterly bankrupt the state. If Cruz Bustamante is elected, he will prove that no dimbulb Demonrat can govern California any better than Doofus.

If McClintock is elected, relief is immediate. If not, it is not far away in 2004 legislative elections and 2006 gubernatorial elections.

This is not Armageddon and Bustamante is not the Antichrist.

Busty is pretty well the antichrist, and giving that PRI thug all that gubernatorial power is not wise.

So what? You will formally RINOIZE and support, hmmmm, Tom Campbell?

If Bustamante wins and McClintock's vote tally is greater than the margin between Schwarzenegger and Bustamante, then I will work to send McClintock back to the private sector in 2004. If Schwarzenegger winds up getting fewer votes than McClintock, then I will commute every weekend from San Diego to Thousand Oaks to ensure that little Tommy McNasty loses the State Senate primary. When someone deliberately splits the vote in apparent collusion with Bustamante, including receiving large amounts of campaign cash from tribal gaming interests who've already endorsed Bustamante, one is allowed to question the man's true motives, and reward him accordingly.

You know that Arnold will be finished if he does not win this year.

Of course. He's not a professional politician, living on the public's dime for 20 years.

Frankly, in 2006, he will be finished if he DOES win this year. So will California.

If he wins, you'd better pray you're right, because otherwise you're going to look really f***ing stupid.

Do you think that having a hissy fit over Bustamante will stave off the inevitable Latino majority in California?

No, it won't. But Bustamante would be a disaster for this state. Of course, since you live in Illinois, you don't have to suffer the consequences of electing him. Talk is cheap, son.

You had better learn social conservatism because the Latinos will not be interested in Muffy, Skipper, Mumsy, polo lessons or trust fund protection politics for a very long time to come.

Wow. Class-warfare rhetoric from McClintock supporters? They prefer that a Democrat win, they pray for unconstitutional judicial fiat to delay the election, and they now start spouting liberal we-hate-the-rich rhetoric. This does *not* make them sound like they're actually conservative.

In any event, you know that Arnold isn't goin to win. The divisions to prevent that are permanent.

When Illinois manages to actually elect a conservative, we'll take your silly opinions under advisement out here.

An Arnold win would be a huge loss for the Republican Party and its reputation

Republican Party at loss in California?...you're kidding right?

"Republican Party reputation"...since when do you care about it anyways?
The only thing you care about is YOU and your PRINCIPLES, based on your past postings.

A loss for the Republican Party in this state is more of a "ho-hum, so what else is new" event.

"will work like a maniac to make sure that he loses the primary in 2004 if he passes the state to Bustamante."

Dear God, ANOTHER vote of FEAR!! Why don't you work like a maniac to get Tom elected? Why are you being influenced by the polls? How do you know they are the up and up?

Let me remind you that Arnold is/has:

1. Pro-Choice
2. Pro gay agenda
3. Pro enviro wackos ( has one on his advisory staff)
4. Has A democrat on his advisory staff who wants to get
rid of Prop 13
5. Has two notorius RINOS as his key advisors
6. Pro Gun Control

How can anyone who claims to be a conservative vote for this guy? You people can no longer count on the so-called "base" to pull your RINO chestnuts out of the fire no matter how many names you call us.
The party left us years ago.

#66 -- We have another one if McC drops out will not vote for Arnold. We are getting proved right over and over again!

How true that statement is PKM! The TommyMac bots are exactly like their counter parts in the Liberal corner. "You either do what we are telling you to do, or is no go", f&^k the party, it's ME, you need to pay attention to!

Good evening, Deacon:

How does supporting a candidate like Arnold who is an apostate Catholic just like Bustamante and Doofus for supporting abortion and homosexuality square with Catholic doctrine like Evangelium Vitae? Is it like supporting gay rights? What happens if the Catholics return to take over the Fort Worth Chancery after Delaney is gone?

Dear God, ANOTHER vote of FEAR!!

Bottom line: McClintock has to be the leading Republican on October 7th to get my vote. If he cannot achieve that, then I am not going to split the GOP vote and elect Bustamante.

If McClintock persists and splits the vote, then I will simply seek to pay him back in his own preferred coin. Why do you complain about me treating him in whatever way he decides to treats me?

Why don't you work like a maniac to get Tom elected?

Why the f*** should I have to work like a maniac for Tom, when he's showing no sign of working like a maniac himself? He's hoarding his tribal gaming money (that he got from Bustamante supporters) for another campaign down the road, instead of trying to win this one.

Why are you being influenced by the polls?

Because I am attempting to ensure that Bustamante is NOT elected governor.

How do you know they are the up and up?

Unless you subscribe to the theory of a Vast Austrian-Wing Conspiracy, Hillary, the polls that are usually accurate vis-a-vis election results are fairly consistent showing Arnold in the lead over McClintock.

How can anyone who claims to be a conservative vote for this guy? You people can no longer count on the so-called "base" to pull your RINO chestnuts out of the fire no matter how many names you call us.

You people can no longer count on the real base--the 90% of the GOP you insult, heckle, and spit on for not obeying every whim you get--to actually support anything you want, or to give a damn if you continually choose to get 0% of what you want instead of 50-90%. You want 0%? FINE! That's exactly what you'll get!

The party left us years ago.

Then you had BETTER pray that they never figure out a way to win and then succeed in governance without your fraction of the vote, because if they do, they are NOT coming back, and you're going to spend the next few decades getting nothing from either party.

The pro-aborts and social issue surrender monkeys are trying to divert you. I am voting Dubya early and often. So are you, if you think it through.

You are new here. Refuse to be distracted by the liberal trolls. Keep after Job #1: stopping the left Demonrat hijack of the recall and the election and the party by Arnie who is no different from Cruz or Doofus on anything that matters.

Do NOT let the liberal trolls redefine this situation as though Arnie were somehow analogous to Dubya. Arnie is Weicker West or warmed over McGovern in GOP drag.
