Harson's island was up the St Clair river and next to and island called Russel island which is the Indian island.
I used to live in Algonac right across from there and the Indians would walk across the ice in the winter, drink in the bars and get get stranded sometimes because they waited too long and the river was uncrossable.
The freighters would use the channel and when they came out the north end and up the river the wash would draw the water from the other side of the river. We could wade out 30, 40, 50 feet and wait for the water to rush back. Usually when they were loaded though. The Bethlehem steel ships were the best.

I used to live in Algonac Farmington native reporting. Then you should also know what the Chanel de Bout (Snibora Channel) is. My dad still has a place up there. In fact, right here!
