One Chance to Kill SB60 (Illegal Drivers Licenses), Says McClintock (CA FReeper Alert, PLEASE READ)
Tom McClintock, KRLA radio, KABC radio | truthkeeper

Posted on 09/05/2003 4:59:52 PM PDT by truthkeeper

Okay, a little voice told me to put up this thread...
Since I heard Sen. McClintock explain this plan twice in two days, during two different radio station interviews, I thought it would be a good idea to synopsis it. (I think is an excellent idea.)

As we have all pretty much figured, the way to do something about the passage of the illegal alien driver's license law, which will be signed any moment by our traitorous, corrupt governor, lies in our "ruby slippers," our wonderful referendum process. According to McClintock, the California Republican Assembly (a group which endorsed him, and the largest of its kind in California), already is buzzing about a plan to challenge the new law "once Davis's pen hits the paper." I have already checked their website and found nothing as of yet; however, McClintock says as soon as he has more information it will be linked on his website. (Let's keep watching for this.)

Here's how it would work. Signatures on petitions would be gathered as with the recall; however, the good news is that he said only a relatively small number would be required. (Off the top of his head, McClintock didn't know the exact amount, but he thought only about 1/4 or 1/5 the amount required for the recall. It should be a lead pipe cinch to get this on this one, IMHO.)

Of course, the signatures need to be collected in the proper, legal manner - I don't have the details to post at this time, but we can get that info readily - and then appropriately forwarded. The good news, according to Sen. McClintock, is that as soon as they are collected and forwarded as required by law, this ridiculous new law MUST BE IMMEDIATELY STAYED UNTIL THE NEXT SCHEDULED ELECTION. That would be MARCH 2004 if we can get the signatures quickly enough. And remember, this idiotic law doesn't go into effect until Jan. 1, 2004. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could beat it to the punch entirely? Does anyone seriously have any doubts we'd knock this thing out in a referendum election?

Another thing, he mentioned that the CA Republican Assembly is not only talking about a referendum, but a possible lawsuit. He didn't give any more detail than that, though...this is all just at the beginning stages, naturally.

Anyway, I thought we could all use a little hope and a positive outlet for our righteous anger. We need to stick together and work positively to show these idiots that this is still OUR STATE, not theirs!

Seems that an initiative is a better way to go than the referenda, according to Williams. Details should be coming from their stations next week.

Will you please make sure that info gets posted? Or at least FReepmail me with what you hear? Thanks.

Yes, as soon as I hear something.
As you might expect the radio and the internet is loud with comments about this and the other bills the gov has pushed through.
The licenses though has greater unseen difficulties. We will end up financing the insurance for the illegals, they will be able to vote, and most likely be on a jury. EGAD
Tom McClintock is on the radio as Im typing this, he said to write letters to the editor of the local paper and name the folks that voted for SB60, that are in your voting area.
he said go to www.sen.ca.gov
then link to legilsation, then search then type in SB60 all the senators voting for or against this bill should be there.
Also McClintock is asking for help go to his site

I need help now with that SB60 REFERENDUM ping list we've been discussing. I typed the of name of everyone on this thread onto a word document, separated by semicolons. (There are 80 names total.) Unfortunately, I haven't the foggiest idea what I am supposed to do at this point, as I am truly computer-inept.

Could I ask one or two of you to be the official "pingers" whenever we have a thread with some news? (It would take forever to show me how to do it - trust me - and I noted that all of you know how to "ping.")
Please send me a FReepmail and let me know, and I'll forward the list of names to you.

For ALL FREEPERS: If your name appears on the ping name and you want it removed, please let me know. Also inform me if you wish to be added to the list.

I would think we should have some more info in the next two or three days, and that will be posted. Until then, rest assured that phone calls are being made and letters being written. In the meantime, please keep posting any significant information to this thread.

Many, many thanks to all.

Somebody just called Joe Crummey on KABC and informed him that he talked to Sen. McClintock about a referendum will coming. It sounded great just hearing that.

Duuuuude! Way to go! I'm already maintaining a Tom ping list and a Bustamante ping list so can't volunteer - my rear end has already assumed the shape of the office chair. All I do is toggle back and forth between my word document and my post using the cut/paste function. You are right there!

You mean that's all there is to it? I just cut and paste from word into the "TO:" part of the reply? Even I can do that.

But is there a limitation on the number of names in ONE ping? Like, would I only be able to do, say, ten at a time? Pass along that info to me and then I should be able to do my own pinging.

Thanks again!

I forgot to mention one more thing I heard on the Joe Crummey show. A caller pointed out that the very last comment Davis made to the assembled crowd at the SB60 signing was, "Don't forget to vote no on the recall!"

Uh...VOTE??

I don't think the recall is within the definition of "gubernatorial election," although it could be argued easily.

Thanks, TheAngryClam.

As I understand it, since John Robinson improved the forum software a year or so ago, there is now viirtually NO LIMIT to the number of people that you can "ping" with a single reply.
Only the first few screen names are DISPLAYED in the TO: line of the post, but they ALL get the "ping" - whenever they do a "self search."

More ammo. As noted in this thread that Colorado has already already passed a law rejecting the validity of California driver's licenses should Gov. Davis sign the bill. The law means California licenses could no longer be used for identification or driving in Colorado after the California bill takes effect next year. And that's ALL Californian drivers' licenses, not just the illegals'.

So...I take my Californicator card to N Dakota and trade it in for one of theirs ...then I come back to Colorado with my N Dakota card which Colorado WILL recognize and presto chango I am no longer an illegal alien terrorist...but a liscenced driver and new resident of the Golden State of Colorado...with all its rights and privileges...

SO the Feds must step in ...realizing that their once non pictured IDs had to be made into pictured IDs are no longer good IDs and are severely compromised....

Ergo......the Feds must inact a FEDERAL ID CARD... a national ID card....with some kinda chip holding all the pertinent info-scan'able...to a giant data base...on all US citizens and terrorists...

Of course this chip will be 'accidently designed' to be taken off the card by criminals...and it to will be compromised...

I think we should just skip the whole procedure and move right to implantable ID chips... Maybe the Govt. should buy up Digital Angel

Actually, it's been pointed out that as stated the Colorado law would be unconstitutional.
