One Chance to Kill SB60 (Illegal Drivers Licenses), Says McClintock (CA FReeper Alert, PLEASE READ)
Tom McClintock, KRLA radio, KABC radio | truthkeeper

Posted on 09/05/2003 4:59:52 PM PDT by truthkeeper

Okay, a little voice told me to put up this thread...
Since I heard Sen. McClintock explain this plan twice in two days, during two different radio station interviews, I thought it would be a good idea to synopsis it. (I think is an excellent idea.)

As we have all pretty much figured, the way to do something about the passage of the illegal alien driver's license law, which will be signed any moment by our traitorous, corrupt governor, lies in our "ruby slippers," our wonderful referendum process. According to McClintock, the California Republican Assembly (a group which endorsed him, and the largest of its kind in California), already is buzzing about a plan to challenge the new law "once Davis's pen hits the paper." I have already checked their website and found nothing as of yet; however, McClintock says as soon as he has more information it will be linked on his website. (Let's keep watching for this.)

Here's how it would work. Signatures on petitions would be gathered as with the recall; however, the good news is that he said only a relatively small number would be required. (Off the top of his head, McClintock didn't know the exact amount, but he thought only about 1/4 or 1/5 the amount required for the recall. It should be a lead pipe cinch to get this on this one, IMHO.)

Of course, the signatures need to be collected in the proper, legal manner - I don't have the details to post at this time, but we can get that info readily - and then appropriately forwarded. The good news, according to Sen. McClintock, is that as soon as they are collected and forwarded as required by law, this ridiculous new law MUST BE IMMEDIATELY STAYED UNTIL THE NEXT SCHEDULED ELECTION. That would be MARCH 2004 if we can get the signatures quickly enough. And remember, this idiotic law doesn't go into effect until Jan. 1, 2004. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could beat it to the punch entirely? Does anyone seriously have any doubts we'd knock this thing out in a referendum election?

Another thing, he mentioned that the CA Republican Assembly is not only talking about a referendum, but a possible lawsuit. He didn't give any more detail than that, though...this is all just at the beginning stages, naturally.

Anyway, I thought we could all use a little hope and a positive outlet for our righteous anger. We need to stick together and work positively to show these idiots that this is still OUR STATE, not theirs!

just trying to do my part to keep it that way. We suceeded and can get back to the important issues California is forced to face right now.

Yes I was listening on KFI. I turned on Channel 4 and the reporter on the scene was talking about how this was being done on a Friday to avoid the slowest day of the week tomorrow and be forgotten. The in studio car chase commentator didn't really comprehend, but you can guess that the reporter was a KFI listener. KFI's reporter apparently called them, and alot of other news outlets like the AP, for confirmation on the press office's lie and got lied to themselves. Apparently that was a bad thing enough to get 4 to do a remote there. I'd be willing to be that even the Times will cover this unfavorably tomorow, call me an optimist.

The whole thing made me angrier than I have been, please ping me with the results of your emails.

Well, it may. But I am proud that Americans are coming together for their country.

Did you hear when the KFI reporter told J&K they were rocking the KFI van up and down, trying to turn it over? You know they hate them since their "free cheese" remote, right? And then some lady spit in the reporter's direction, said something in Spanish, and added "John and Ken!"

We need to get them on board. Actually, knowing them they'll probably get US on board...they're pretty fast with these things. Somebody said they were partly responsible for getting that creep Florio tossed out of New Jersey. They really have a knack for waking up the Sheeple, I'll hand them that.

I've spoken to them a number of times before...let's see what I can do this time. Will definitely keep you posted.

I agree. No bashing McClintock and Arnold. This is serious business. We are trying to hopefully cleanse our government of these corrupt individuals.

Forget tipping it, actual La MEChA was holding up a La MEChA banner in front of "KFI" on the van. This is serious.

Please do keep me posted. Be a truth figher as much as a truth keeper. Speaking of La MEChA, take a gander at this "photo"

When Doofus signed it and they started playing "The Mexican Hat Dance" I thought they would really lose it.

I couldn't bear to watch the signing. Did they really play the Mexican Hat Dance?

Good Lord.

I haven't been this angry since Al Gore tried to steal the election. Count me in. LET'S ROLL.

I can think of a couple of dozen people right off the top of my head - not to mention everyone one on Free Republic - who would sign the petition.

Anytime. Anywhere.

376,000 and some odd. It's the same number as for a legislative initiative.

How sure are you about the number? I've seen a couple of different ones, some far less. (Not that I doubt for one second we could get 376,000 in 90 days.) I don't suppose you have a link to general referendum info? Thanks.

Do you think that would be a sufficient blow to the collective heads of our self-absorbed RNC?

No. I think they're too busy pandering to the Mexican special interest groups and trying to out-compassion the Democrats to care.

Will the RNC ever learn not to run away from Proposition #187? It's like they have a bloody deathwish here.

Yes. Just so. Exactly. There is no spine in the RNC or anywhere in the Republican party with the possible exception of Tom Tancredo. And he's not even in California.

Face it. The providers of all the resources the government sucks dry to squander on millions of deadbeats and illegals have no representation in California, or anywhere else.

I never thought much of Ayn Rand, or her philosophy. But I swear I'm seeing Atlas Shrugged being played out right before our very eyes.

If you get a copy send it to me in FR mail if you can.

Me too. I intend to contact my local REPUBLICAN House member (I'm not really in her district, but I'm close enough, and I'm not calling a RAT) and ask her to consider introducing similar legislation in West Virginia when the Legislature reconvenes in January.

Assuming, that is, that California citizens haven't risen up by then to put the law on the ballot, giving it an instant virtual injunction and pretty much guaranteeing it will be defeated.

Everything I hear that phrase I think of a great hero and am totally inspired. Agreed, LET'S ROLL, CALIFORNIA.

Gray Davis thinks signing this might save him from recall, how stupid!

I don't think he believes that. I think he signed it as his own little pathetic attempt at Mutually-Assured Destruction: "You're going to take me down, Republicans? Okay, then I'm going to see to it that before I'm thrown out, every illegal immigrant in the state will be a registered Democratic voter!"

We will crush this, you can go to the bank on it. I've never seen so many people so mad...even democrats, and certainly legal Latinos. This law will be toast before it begins!
