Glad you enjoyed the Taft quotation. It's not the best campaign message, and Taft knew that. Sadly, you don't get elected by saying that you help people best by doing nothing. Taft said it because, 1) he meant it; and 2) he no longer cared about winning.
Having taken the Republican nomination from Roosevelt in June of 1912, Taft was assured of Roosevelt's defeat. He spent the rest of the year saying things a serious candidate could never say, such as the above. He could have played politics and talked pretty; instead he spoke the truth as he knew it, knowing full well he wouldn't win.
Mr. Amor faces a similar choice: if he wants to get elected, he needs an issue, or a means. I suppose his greatest means is the internet and this forum, although I doubt that goes very far in Western NC primaries. I'm all for it, and I'll do what I can to support our man.

Call me John. We're all friends, here on FreeRepublic.
I agree that the Internet and this forum are only a beginning, not a main means to election in Western Carolina. I will use the Internet effectively because I know it as a communications tool. But it reaches less than 50% of all the people in Western Carolina.
Other than advertising throughout the District in various ways, my main goal -- as discussed at length in another post on this thread -- is to talk personally to at least 10,000 people in the District, with all of them having the opportunity to ask the questions of their choice, and get my answer on the spot.
Very few candidates for Congress have ever attempted to do that. If I can accomplish that, I'll have a fair chance to win.
