I just spent Friday and Saturday driving over much of western North Carolina and visited the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest and its surrounding area as well as traveling through Asheville and spending an evening in Boone after visiting Blowing Rock.
It is a wonderful area with great people who, I am sure, will welcome your tireless representation. Good luck.
You are absolutely right, that Western Carolina is a magnificent place. Its beauty changes by the day and by the hour, as the seasons and the weather move across the mountains. That is why so many tourists come to visit us. That is why our people mostly stay here, rather than take off for other places as soon as possible. That is why many retired people choose to come here.
Everything about WC begins with geography, both good and bad. For instance, the mountains that bring people here also make it difficult to build and maintain the needed transportation to serve those who live here, and come here. (Should I say that every silver cloud has a dark lining? LOL.)
Come again, as often as you want. And if you get down my way, come "set a spell" on the porch with Felicity and me.
