Behold a different kind of party in Savannah

Summer in Savannah means tourists, and most of them arrive looking for the garden, or the evidence of it as outlined in the famous (or infamous) book by John Berendt. Sex sells in Savannah (unlike other places) and "Lady Chablis," the drag queen featured in "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" continues to play to sellout audiences in a Savannah club.

Of course the first question that visitors to atlanta used to ask is "where the gold club?" LOL!

Seriously, I've wanted to visit Savannah it seems like a neat town.

It is a very neat town. I have lived in SAvannah all my life, and have NEVER had anyone ask me What would I have to drink. Acutally the most important question is " Who are your people? (Family) The party crowd all live in the downtown area of Savannah, and I have always lived in the Southside, where people are more normal. :p

Anyway it realy is a beautiful place and I wouldn't live anywhere else. Even if it is 100% humidity and like a sauna.

Ben and JLo bought a house just south of here. I have friends who own the land across the river from their house. They are debating should they blackmail the Afleks to keep the paparazi out or charge the Paparazi to use the land.

We were there last year. It was great except for the tour driver who insisted on telling us all about some drag queen at a club in town while my kids looked at me like "What is he talking about?". I have always loved Savannah for partying and visiting. I'm trying to talk my wife into going to Tybee Island for vacation next summer.

Back in 1994, the ex and I went for a quick weekend trip to Savannah mainly to get a pencil portrait done of our lab by one of the art students that set up out on river street.

We quickly found a pretty young Asian student set up outside the bar famous for frozen drinks. After negotiating a price, I sat down and held the lab while the girl went to work.

About 5 minutes passed when a couple stopped and silently watched as the artist worked. Then, another person stopped to watch, and before long, about 40 people were standing there watching the girl draw and my lab pose as still as a statue. Well, there was on small incident where a lady allowed her frozen daquiri within easy toungue flop range, but the lady took it well.

Only in Savannah.

When you go to Tybee...go to the North End. Across from the Light house, between the Museum and the Shriners hall is the North Beach Grille. Best food in the area. Looks like a dive...food is from heaven.

There is a book called Only in Savannah by Tom Coffee. Good book..everything in is is true :)

I know. I was just there! On Sunday night, I spent a few hours at the Moon River Brewery. Then I walked up and down River Street drinking beer out of plastic cups while the wife bought a bunch of gifts. I love Savannah. Spanish moss. Huge container ships plying up and down the river. Old stone steps that are hard to navigate - especially after a few beers.

I shall return.

I LOVED my time in Savannah!

Never remember anyone asking me what I wanted to drink outside of the bars, but everything I remember about the place was talked about in the article.

About as laid back a place as you’ll ever find, with a nod to the quaint, Antebellum South and a hint of modernism that seems to be well blended.
