Too many people looked at it as a "joke" or "phase". What a lot of it I think is also --- many people have never traveled much around Mexico, they've maybe been to a couple resorts and everything looked really quite nice. They never saw the slums of Mexico City, they've never seen the people who live in the miles and miles of garbage dumps, they've never really seen much of Mexico. Then they have known or met one or two nice SW hispanic families --- who might have descended from Spaniards and lived in what is the USA for 300 years or more --- or who came in the early 1900s just when Mexico first began it's spiral downward. Or they even met a hard-working illegal who seems like and is a pretty good guy ---- They make the assumption that this is what ALL illegal immigration is about --- that all Mexicans and/or hispanics are the same ---- they ALL work hard, they ALL go to Mass every Sunday, none of the drink very much, none beat their wives, none join gangs. So they want all the immigration possible.

Ping, the stats are appalling! I could have told you that ---- welfare use is very high ---- one reason I don't really separate legal from illegal immigration much --- many come over legally or semi-legally and get right on welfare programs. There are some illegals who at least work for every dime they hope to get ---- those leave their families in Mexico and don't expect free medical care and education here. I'd take those who never access one government program over the legals and illegals who do.

Bustamante, who is running to be governor of California, said he still supports MEChA.
MEChA's motto is "for the race, everything. For those outside the race, nothing."
I am sick of the double standards. This racist needs to be eliminated from the recall elections, and reomoved from post as Lieutenant Govenor. If he becomes Govenor, count on more illegal immigration and more taxes to support more illegal's.
