If Wesley Clark runs, all bets are off

WESLEY CLARK has told associates that he will decide in the next few weeks whether to declare for president. If he does, it would transform the race. Call me star-struck, but he'd instantly be among the top tier. Clark, in case you've been on sabbatical in New Zealand, is all over the talk shows. He's the former NATO supreme commander who headed operations in Kosovo, a Rhodes Scholar who graduated first in his class at West Point, and a Vietnam vet with several combat medals including a purple heart. He has been a tough critic of Bush's foreign policy. His domestic positions are not as fully fashioned, but he'd repeal Bush's tax cuts and revisit the so-called Patriot Act.

Clark is well known in the Army, and especially in SF, as a complete horse's ass. When he was Supreme Commander, Europe, he was referred to behind his back as "The Supreme Being".

I look forward to his candidacy, especially with Hildebeast as a running mate. Talk about an easy candidate to destroy.

Sounds like this guy would have no problem ordering the national guard to confiscate firearms.

Clark was the Commander 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas from August 1992 to April 1994. The Mt. Carmel raid was on February 29, 1993. The arson-murders occurred April 19. This means he would have been the officer who authorized and commanded the armored vehicles used in the raid, the siege, and the final assault.

General Wesley Clark From Waco to Yugoslavia: The US military was at Waco

I believe that is a legitimate concern.

"If you want to fire an assault weapon," he says, "join the army."

I guess the writer didn't see the recent admission by Clark that it wasn't the White House who called him on 9/11 after all. Clark has been insisting for nearly two years that the White House called him on 9/11, while the towers were falling, to go public with the information that Iraq was behind the attack. Clark has now admitted it wasn't the White House but rather a Saudia Arabia or Canadian think tank. I often get them confused myself.

He also seems to think the White House is behind his recent firing from CNN. As though CNN would do anything the White House asked! What Clark deliberately mischaracterizes as a firing is actually CNN smartening up and realizing Clark is a potential presidential candidate and getting free air time as a consultant to CNN, and the other candidates would be well within their rights to insist on the same amount of free air time.

More on The Supreme Being here -

At the beginning of the Kosovo conflict,CounterPunch delved into the military career of General Wesley Clark and discovered that his meteoric rise through the ranks derived from the successful manipulation of appearances: faking the results of combat exercises, greasing to superiors and other practices common to the general officer corps. We correctly predicted that the unspinnable realities of a real war would cause him to become unhinged. Given that Clark attempted to bomb the CNN bureau in Belgrade and ordered the British General Michael Jackson to engage Russian troops in combat at the end of the war, we feel events amply vindicated our forecast. With the end of hostilities it has become clear even to Clark that most people, apart from some fanatical members of the war party in the White House and State Department, consider the general, as one Pentagon official puts it, "a horse's ass". Defense Secretary William Cohen is known to loathe him, and has seen to it that the Hammer of the Serbs will be relieved of the Nato command two months early.

He was good at disarming Christian Serbs in Kosovo so they could not defend themselves against Albanian Muslims from KLA.

IMHO, Clark is trying to establish himself as a VP candidate. For anyone except Kerry (who touts his service constantly), he would innoculate the top of the ticket against "anti-military" charges.

General Clark will be known as the 'butcher' of the Balkans. An opportunist General
in a 'wag the dog' war that has shamed our country.

When will Wes address how his wife appropriated his new armored Mercedes while he was NATO commander and while on a gold outing, ordered her Army driver to drag her clubs, leaving the limo to be stolen?

Here is a great thread where Clark admits that he lied about the White House calling him on 9/11.

Wesley Clark Admits He Lied
Fox News | August 26, 2003 | Fox News

Wesley Clark admitted the White House DID NOT pressure him to lie that Iraq was behind 9/11. He now admits it was a Canadian think tank.

Previously, Clark had insisted that the White House called him, as the towers were falling, to pressure Clark to go national that Iraq was behind the attack. He has backed off that claim and admits he was "confused".

Of course this maggot infested lunatic lib posing as a journalist for this fish wrap ignored this little reality about the libs military hero.

draft dodger president

I really hate seeing the President put down this way - He served - albiet a short stint - in the Air National Guard - Those idiots that keep on relegating the ANG to substandard performance better go to the nearest ANG Base and watch what those pilots and Airman can do - Get a friggin life - and stop picking on the Guard - they have proved themselves over and over again - in fact - they work as more cohesive units because they train together for many YEARS - not just a couple like the active.
