What Sen. Royce West is really saying is "We want to come home and visit our families, but we want to know when we have to make another run for the border."
What a coward!

No assurances should granted. The rule of law should be imposed in its full majesty upon the miscreants.

No assurances! 30 more days. The Senate and the House can continue meeting one day a week, indefinitely.
The arrogance of the Fleas is unbelievable: They jump across State lines, know that they have broken the law, and yet demand that they be given "assurance" that they can come home for a given period of time without fear of arrest.
No "Kings X" !!!

"The Democrats also said the Republicans should use a cooling-off period to shore up support in their own party"
Haha, I love it when one rats tells Republicans how to run their party.
After years of Republican's drawing fewer votes than the Communist party canidate (I think that happened one timeway back when) rats are toast in Texas with the exception of a few pocket areas and they're having fits. Ain't it sad.

This request proves that the Democrats know that they have truly placed themselves at risk......I say let them think about it for a while....

"If indeed there's going to be a cooling-off period, let's make it a definite period of time so that no games can be played," said Sen. Royce West of Dallas. Of course. We won't play any games, just like they are not playing any games.
