I never thought about the cell phone theory, but it certainly sounds as if that has made an impact. I don't know one person who does not carry one with them at all times.

women who get abortions may be making a positive Darwinian contributionIf babies are adopted into nice middle class families, they have a very good chance of doing well in life. I know quite a few people who were given up for adoption and are now wonderful parents themselves.

It's all those prisons that were built ------ We need to build more, just get the criminals off the streets and crime goes down.

We now have more guns being carried legally than anytime in our history. If I were a criminal type I sure would not want to be looking down the barrel of even a little 9mm. Many CCW's carry things like .44 mag, or .45 acp. Hey, those thangs are evil.

Would that be the policy of pardoning terrorists? I don't think they will mention that one.
But you can be sure gun control will be.

a recent study of gun vilolence, in some cities, showed that nearly half was between gang members or people with prison history i.e. two people that have been in prison or are doing something illegal have some type of gun incident in their home. This is considered part of "crime" for the sake of police stats.

Thanks, I just can't imagine that my more militant attitude, or my martial arts skills, or my CW permit have anything to do with the declining crime rate. More cell phones, however...........

That's never been proven.

The same could be said for the perps, as well.
Don't you know every perp is a victiom? John Gay-gen was sexually abused as a child.

Unexpected consequences of everyone carrying a cell phone?
You still need to shut up and drive.

Actually, that's a good point. In this world of insanity, the least intelligent are producing the most children. That turns Darwin on his head. Of course, the question is begged: If more low IQ kids are bad, why let the low IQ parents pro-create at all? Perhaps the best thing that could now be done is to offer cash for sterilization? After, of course, stopping illegal immigration by shutting the borders....

At what cost? One fellow went to prison for life for borrowing a pizzza.

but it has occurred to me that women who get abortions may be making a positive Darwinian contribution to the gene pool.
My understanding is that that is the reason for Planned Parenthood's existence. Check out their patron "saint", Margaret Sanger.

This latest finding is going to cause tremendous consternations amongst the local TV news guys/gals, who base their entire local newscasts of the premise that there's more crime now than ever before and it's all viewers care about.
One of our local Nashville stations is that way - all the crime gets shoved to the front of the newscast, and this is the station that USUALLY leads in the 5, 6, and 10pm casts. But they are mistaken if they think story selection is the reason - the actual reason is the star power of the anchors and the fact that it's the NBC affilliate. They also have the best weather people (with the exception of a loved and adored but fading Bill Hall who's still there long after he should have retired).
My wife usually likes us to watch the 10pm before she heads off to bed, but the other evening, we bailed from the movie "Selena" to the news - and oddly it was my wife who complained that "it's all just crime news, let's go back to the movie." And we did.

"One fellow went to prison for life for borrowing a pizzza." No, he went to prison for life by proving himself to be an un-reformable criminal recidivist, not "borrowing" a pizza.
BTW, how does one "borrow" a pizza?? Does it involve returning the used digestion products to the original owner??
And under what conditions did he "borrow" the pizza?? Did he perhaps wave a gun or knife under the nose of the delivery boy?? Details ARE important.
