If this was the only issue he ran on, was he elected or *reelected*? It's an important question.
If this was the first time he was elected, then, while I agree with his position one-hundred percent, I would have to say that he engaged in demagoguery. There would be no two ways about it.
On the other hand, if he was *reelected*, then it's less clear, since people would already know who he was and what he stood for. The complete package, as it were, is in play. While you could make the argument that it's still demagoguery, voters would already know what else they're getting. The reason demagoguery is despicable is because it's an attempt to gain power by *deceiving* people; get them to vote for you on this hot-button issue while not telling them about all the other things you stand for. But if Moore was releected, that can't happen. That's not to say that the issue couldn't be used as a hook to pull in people on the fence, but since he's *so* far to the right I would have a hard time buying an argument that anyone *could* be on the fence. I think he's the kind of guy that people would either love or hate.

You're on the wrong side here sink, really wrong. Walsh, I'm protecting you against a Muslim Chief Justice, who decides he wants to put a monument to the Koran in the Supreme Court building in your state.

*****"You got it, Jack," or whatever godless heathens say in such situations, everyone sits back and pretends that the "pains and penalties of perjury" are every bit as intimidating as the wrath of a vengeful Almighty.*****
I found that really funny!
In any event, it rings a bell now; guess I have heard that said that way before. Thank you ;)

sinkspur is all over these threads...maybe he is prejudiced against Christians. For all we know he could be glad about this and the recent sodomy ruling by SCOTUS It is rude to mention a poster and not ping them so that they can respond.
I'm a Christian myself, but I'm not rude.

Ever been there? It doesn't offend me. IN fact I have decided not to invoke my constitutional right not to be offended.
By the way, where do you draw the wall? Is it OK for the SCOTUS to ban voluntary prayer?
The voluntary recitation of the POA with the words "under God" included?
Manger scenes on the public square at Christmas?
Where's you drop dead line Sink?

I'm embarassed to admit it, but I don't know how to ping you. If I did, I would have been happy to do it when I mentioned you.

That's one reason why, while I would love to see more kids in religious schools, I'm not sure I like the idea of school vouchers. I'd hate to see the Catholic schools in my area become dependent on Federal Crack (dollars). Then the FedGov could start making demands regarding social issues...

It's time for Bush and the 'pubs to drop the nuclear option on judicial appointments, fill the ranks with GOOD judges, and make sure Chief Justice Moore is one of them I am afraid Bush will ignore this man like the plague.
To: gsrinok
Again, if you mention someone in a post, it is good manners to ping them to the post so that they can respond.
I've never been to DU in my life, BTW.
And, I've been here five years longer than you, so, when you're out of your FR diapers, we'll engage in a dialogue.

And, if Moore had included the 10 Commandments in this mosaic, there would have been no lawsuit.
But Moore would have nothing but the 10 Commandments in his foyer.

I totally agree. I believe the Founding Fathers wanted to keep the state out of the church by keeping the churh out of the state. Once it starts to creep in, how many denominations will then vie for prominence in the Government? Baptits will be fighting Mormons will be fighting Catholics for more money and sway within the government. Interesting, so we have to keep all religions out of the public square entirely? Name one church or denomination that will be offended by the presence of the 10 Commandments?

When you REPLY to a post, the SCREENAME is automatically placed in the TO: box.
Merely add a semicolon and put in SINKSPUR, also....

Again, I don't know how to ping you, but if someone will tell me how, I'll be glad to. As for the rest of your post, are you implying that I shouldn't engage in discussions because I haven't been here for five years?

Put a semicolon after the poster you're responding to, then type in my name. You can do this for multiple posters.
