(Burke, Va.) - An Annandale woman was critically injured Thursday morning in a McDonald's drive-through when she partially exited her minivan to retrieve some dropped change and the vehicle lurched forward, pinning her head in the car's door.
According to the manager of the restaurant, the woman had pulled up to the payment window at about 8:30 a.m., and the accident occurred while she was in the process of paying for her order

Now they'll have to print warnings on the change.LOL! they'll need warnings on the vehicle doors and floorboard too.

I'm having trouble seeing why the minivan stopped going forward if it wasn't in park.

I have a great big plastic Planters cashews container that I throw all my pocket change into at the end of the day (minus the pennies). I filled it up in about a year-and-a-half and now I have enough money to rent a house at the shore for a week.

I've dropped change a few times while paying at drive thru windows. The crew person has always insisted that I leave it on the ground. Now, I understand why.

I wonder why they put the coins on top of the bills and hand to you as one unit This is just laziness on the part of the cashier. They don't even realize the stupidity of what they are doing. Older, more experienced cashiers clearly realize that coins should be placed in the customer's hand first, THEN the bills, but with the attitudes of many of today's young workers, they don't give a damn.

PS your weird...I'm the first to admit it. But hey, my weird ways work for me.
Interested in other weird things people do? Check out a book called, "And I thought I was crazy." Amazon has it. Just a lot of short paragraphs about all the weird things people do. (Also some very clever ideas, too.)

I wonder why they put the coins on top of the bills and hand to you as one unit. This results in the coins slipping off. It's clear these are their instruction as they all do it, McDonalds, Hardies, Taco Bell, etc.
That's always been one of my pet peeves. I always make a point of putting the change in the cashiers' hands first, then hand them the bills. At McD's many cashiers almost toss the money into your car.

I'm having trouble seeing why the minivan stopped going forward if it wasn't in park. I figure the van was jammed fairly close to the building so as to make it easier to reach the counter. That counter protrudes from the building. When you pull up to it, your door window is right next to the counter. If you were to open the door and lean out and down toward the ground, and your foot slipped off the brake while the car was in 'drive' and drifted forward, the protruding counter would force the door closed.

this was this first thing I thought of, but this could have happened at a bank drive up, the pharmacy, the liquor store, and a fast food place. I drove to all those places with two toddlers to do all my business in one morning, and not have to get out of the car, and leave a child for one minute.
