"So you're saying that he probably doesn't believe it what he's doing, he's just in it for the money?"

He could believe half of what he says and still be in it for the money. I get the impression that that wouldn't matter to you though.

Don't even suggest it. That is just what he would do, if he thought he could get enough support. I am not going down the Pat Buchanan road on the primaries.

"He hears from millions everyday who want what he wants and would love him to be POTUS...if he can pay off his existing campaign debts first ;-)"

Hmmm. Its always the money.

I bet where I live is more civilzed that about 80% of the USA

You live in Toronto and you're saying that? I'll take that bet.

You need to get out more often. The USA and Detroit are not the same thing.

Woo...that's probably that anger thing I was talking about. I can't imagine why Keyes would do that in front of Freepers about our dear Pres. Not very good judgment on Keyes part, if it happened as you say.

Keyes pissed me off with some of his anti-Bush comments.

But, he is a good guy.

Give him his own show. roger.ailes@foxnews.com

Gee, a brand new person knows about Live Threads and posts one. I am so impressed.

It wasn't difficult, I've seen them here all the time.

Most new members are nervous to even reply to threads. You however, are just brimming with self confidence.

What is there to be scared of? I finally got my computer and I wanted to participate, I've recieved a cold welcome so far though.

Perhaps it is because you attack those who aren't perfect conservatives. Perhaps it is because you are posting divisive stuff.

And how is it that you just got your computer but yet you are so familiar with things here?

Patrick Henry, indeed said, “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the gospel of Jesus Christ!”

What you have omitted mentioning is that this was part of an historical debate in which Patrick Henry played a leading role. Patrick Henry submitted this bill to the Virginia legislature for a general tax in support of religion, which caused Madison to respond with his “Memorial and Remonstrance.”

Henry’s views, and those of his Episcopal allies, were the views countered, and eventually defeated, by the ideas in Madison’s document. The issue was controversial and heated, but Madison’s side won.

So you see, it was not a principal for foundation of our national government or even the state of Virginia, but was the postion DEBATED and then REJECTED by the founders present in the Virginia state house, supported by Madison's legal and historical arguments...

I've recieved a cold welcome so far though

Sadly, suspicion, cynicism and criticism are par for the course around here.

The good news, though, is that there are a lot of extremely brilliant contributors, too.

Stick with it, and I promise you, you'll learn a LOT and will no doubt find the Free Republic to be a rewarding place to spend some time.

And if you really ARE a retread, then just don't do that thing that you did last time. :^)

freepers that were present are no doubt already on the thread...
do an archive search yourself... or take it up with them...

it is debateable that bush is all hat and no cattle, but experts agree,
alan is a barracuda... all mouth and mostly prattle.

You have your opinion of Keyes, and I have mine. I take you at your word that you're new, but Keyes has proven, time and again, that he cannot work within the confines of a political party or a political process. He accuses the press of racism when he thinks they're ignoring him, and he talks down to those who don't support him, coming very close to calling them immoral.

Alan's a very intelligent man, but he's not a team player, which is why he has NO political allies to help him out. It's just Alan Keyes against the world.

In addition, when he's running, he uses his campaign to support himself, and he didn't pay off his 1996 debts until shortly before the 2000 campaign.

You think that's cute? In what way does Keyes remind you of an African tin pot dictator? His oratory style, or the fact that he is black? I think hab4ever's stereotypical depiction of him is racist.

I think most receive a cold welcome. I was ready to leave after my first few days here. I said very little but no one trusted me. That's just the general feeling of a political site it seems.

I don't live in a tar paper shack and have to pick flies off my food, as per the Sangemon Kid.This city is wealthy, diverse, well run and very attractive. It is NOT Africa, as per the Sangemon Kid.Any American that comes to Toronto doesn't consider it a dump.
