Help us in Canada.
The socialists under anti-globalization, anti-American David Orchard have attempted to take control of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada and are opposing it working together with the Canadian Reform Conservative Alliance in rebuilding a true Canadian alternative to fight the governing Liberals.
PLEASE FREEP this poll at http://www.canadawebdesign.ca/lakelandpc/mainpoll.html and vote YES to having the PC and CA work together!
WE MUST WORK TOGETHER TO DEFEAT THE GOVERNING LIBERALS AND DEFEAT SOCIALISM IN CANADA.
TOPICS: Canada; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: alliance; arnold; canada; conservatives; freep; help; poll; progressive; socialism; sos

Freeped.
I hope Harper pulls it off. I really do.
It probably won't happen, however, since MacKay is determined to be the one to lead the Tories into single-digit-seats land. But we can hope.

Thanks GiveEmDubya ... were all Conservatives together.
Too bad we have no real single Conservative party in Canada to fight the socialists thanks to the likes of David Orchard.
Hopefully we can FREEP a powerful message, just like we did with the pro-freedom rallies across the country

As the next federal election approaches ("Saint" Paul will probably drop the writ next Spring--unless the tinfoil-hat theory on FD comes true and Chretien's ego wants a surprise 4th election win), I suspect both the PC & CA will be gearing up soon.
If MacKay or Harper don't want to work together (Orchard orders MacKay to uphold '301', etc) then one party or the other must be annihilated during the campaign WHILE maintaining focus on canning the Liberals. It will be interesting to see which one survives.
As you might be able to tell, I've been reading FD for a long time. And I have a sense that, based on what I've read/seen, Harper will probably fare better on the campaign trail than MacKay (as far as vigor and effectiveness go). Conservative unity would be good, but if it doesn't pan out, then do all you can to see that the most conservative party wins (IMO, the Alliance).
I wish luck to all Canadian FReepers/FDers/conservatives.

At the very least let's win this poll and send a message to the socialists that we are tired of the status quo....
I know that Orchard has already contacted his anti-globalization movement... it's a battle royale!
Vote YES to cooperation between Conservatives and the rebuilding of a national conservative party!
To: CraigPichach
You'll need to explain to me what this poll is about. I'm Anti-Globalism as well, not that I want the Left taking over, but nor do I want the anti-sovereignty globalists to win.
To: ETERNAL WARMING
The poll is about bringing together Canada's two Conservative parties, the Canadian Alliance (www.canadianalliance.ca) and the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada (www.pcparty.ca) together. BOTH supported the war in Iraq.
This is opposed by David Orchard's socialists who are anti American. You can see he attacks the US over and over again, check out his article at
http://www.davidorchard.com/online/articles-1998/this-thing.html .
Note the quote he uses: "Now Ottawa has volunteered to help Washington unleash the world's most horrendous weapons in an illegal and profoundly racist holocaust against the defenceless citizens of the cradle of recorded civilization"
Help us fight this lunatic.... PLEASE.

FReeped. I don't know one party from another in Canada, but someone said vote "yes" and so I did, hoping to promote a more conservative agenda with the neighbors who used to be our friends.
No - 213
Yes - 193
Not sure - 14
I also added the comment on the message board that the government that governs best, governs least. Cradle to grave control robs each person of individual freedom. -- I was on a role, just getting warmed up to a good rant, when the message board quit printing so I figured they were limiting the length -- lucky for them, huh! (lol)

I'll tell you a story about the Tories.
Three years ago, at a family function, one of Mulrooney's oldest and best friends, who is a bigtime Quebec Tory, told me all how the Tories were going to coalesce around McKay,dump Clark, and the new untited Right was going to take shape, with the Tories being the natural leaders. He snottily said that the Alliance had no place to go and that only the Tories can win nationally. That he and his cohorts were party to the Tory implosion in Canada was skipped over, but his scenario was plausible, if a national Tory leader could emerge( I still think possible, with Mike Harris being the guy).He implored all right wingers to hold on and work towards a united front.
I learned a couple of weeks back that he is now one of Paul Martin's biggest fundraisers and has thrown in the towel on the Tories. This is the Tory party legacy after 10 yrs in the wilderness...
To: habs4ever
Mike Harris was the ONLY Tory who could have made the PCP competitive. Maybe Lord could have done it too, but he seems to have bigger problems now (i.e. holding together a 1-seat majority).
I don't see Harris as running though. From what I understand, he said he would have run if the Tories and Alliance came together. If MacKay starts to limp badly coming down the stretch, they could pull a Torricelli and stick someone else in the leadership. Maybe not a probable scenario, but anything can happen.

Either way, let's send a message that Canadians want a strong Conservative party to fight socialism in Canada.

Currently it's 400 to 380... We need more YES voters.
Unbelievable that so many would vote no to working with Conservatives yet have made a deal with a socialist.
