I was hoping for something more erudite like:
kdb /unix /dev/kmem
followed by some interesting manipulations of the running kernel. I sure miss writing UNIX kernel code for a living. I suspect all those senior employees at Sun miss it too. It will be fun to watch what happens when the Sun folks in India send out the weekly patches for Solaris. Will there be anyone left that recognizes what they are or how to apply them? It was tough enough when we had no full time UNIX sysadmins and the task of applying patches was a collateral duty performed by competent programmers.
It has been 30 years since I earned a living cooking at a restaurant. It's a real treat to be the only cook for a restaurant with seating for 350 people. Doing pantry work in your slack time, stoning the grill and cleaning all the grease from the vents at closing was not particularly fun.
