I lost 70lbs about 3.5 years ago from 250 to 180 eating a low calorie diet and exercise. I held that weight for a while and slowly creep back up to around 205 over the past 2.5 to 3 yrs. I was running 25 miles a week and spending 4 hrs a week pushing weights around and still gaining fat. I was also hungry most of the time. So I started doing the Atkins Diet about 6 weeks ago. I now back down to 188 as of today after a six mile run. This is were I want to stay. I don't know if the Atkins Diet is good for you but it works. And I'm not hungry anymore. I still have been able to eat some whole gains, nuts, and fruits with the Atkins Diet and loose weight at the same time. I have also in the past six week seem to be able to push heaver weight around in the GYM. The only problem I have had is at first I didn't seem to have the endurance I had before I started the diet. But after a couple of days I was back to normal.

But after a couple of days I was back to normal. That's a normal lag as your body shifts from being a sugar burner to being a fat burner. About the only negative that goes with Atkins is the dragon breath from the ketone bodies formed as you metabolize fat in a state of ketosis.
