At their Albuquerque hotel, a new hand-painted sign was placed on the wall in the Democrats' meeting room noting that the clock started Thursday on the $1,000-a-day fines imposed on them by their Senate colleagues.
"Republican Poll Tax," it read. "Day 1 $1,000." The Democrats, most of whom are minorities, have likened the fines to a poll tax, once used in the South to discourage minority voting.
The Dirty 'RATS !! ...
Gov. Rick Perry told reporters Thursday that he was shocked that the Democrats are flat-out refusing to pay any fines."I expect to hear someone stopped on Interstate 35 and given a ticket say, "Well the senators don't have to pay fines, why should I?' " said Mr. Perry, who has already called two special sessions of the Legislature on redistricting and stands ready to call a third when the current one ends.
How 'bout sending them and invoice, if they don't pay the invoice...sent the invoices to a Collection Agency and let them do the dirty work with their harrassing phone calls, letters, and their credit reports!

Oh, the killer D's of Texas,
Are running away.
They don't act like real Texans,
so who needs 'em anyway.
They fled across the border,
to avoid a little fray.
And the killer D's of Texas
are afraid of Tom Delay.

Congressional districts in Texas today are essentially those drawn by a partisan Legislature in 1991. At that time, a national publication called the Texas map the most outrageously gerrymandered redistricting effort in the nation, resulting in Democratic strength in our congressional delegation well beyond its representation among voters. Our congressional lines are even more outdated today. When the Legislature failed to draw new lines to accommodate Texas' two new congressional seats in 2001, the job fell to a federal court. The judges made the fewest changes possible to the existing 1991 map, in essence protecting incumbents.

Typical liberal stupidity--since the REAL situation is an attempt get get them to RETURN TO THE POLLS, DO THEIR DUTY, AND VOTE. Leave it to a liberal to paint a situation as the exact opposite of what it actually is.
No surprise. These are Democrats. They are the elite. They are above the laws that govern mere citizens.
It seems to me that a court order could initiate the expropriation of their bank accounts and other property in Texas. (That is what theyd do to you and me in a similar situation.) Meanwhile the Republicans should stop posturing about the Democrat defections, and get to work passing some other serious, conservative bills.
Yeah, that analogy makes sense. In a bizarro world opposite kind of way.
It's whining of the most hypocritical kind.
Put the dems back in power and watch them gerrymander till they drop. At least the Republicans didn't pull the quorom nonsense when they were in the minority.......One hopes that the next election cycle puts this bizarro nonsense to bed.
I'm all for it. These 'RATS are are makin' me angry. G-r-r-r-r-r !!
