I don't see any mention of Lighting here.I also don't see any mention of a cause. The transformer that blew was house sized. It took all night to replace. About half a million homes were without power from 4:00 pm to sometime the next morning.
I just got a call from my son at 207th street Manhattan. His lights went on about 8:20 am. He had to walk home from Wall Street last night. 5:00 pm to 1:00 am.

I too live in JAX and remember that afternoon and from what I recall there were no storms in town, and JEA even said it was due to Equipment failure.
It just seems strange to me that the news media down here is trying to parallel the 2 blackouts and say it was Lighting that caused both when the Blackout in JAX had nothing to do w/ Lighting.
