They need to get a generator to that mine, pronto. My husband was an underground mining engineer for many years. Ventilation in deep mines depends on fans...otherwise the air doesn't circulate and gets replaced with CO2. People can faint or suffocate.
Most mines run electric trams or small electric trains to the face (where they are mining). In a large mine that can be some distance...several miles.
They will have light as long as their lamps in their helmets holds out...but they do need to get a generator there right away.
I assume this is in Ontario.
Well hopefully they studied and learned from the Pennsylvania rescue.
