It's NOT "the government came on and in minutes denied any possibility of terrorism." As near as I can tell, 10,000 reporters are running around, badgering anybody who ever drew a government check, trying to get them to say "IT COULD BE TERRORISM!"

Every time some poor schmoe says, "I don't have any evidence of it" they blast out "GOVERNMENT DENIES TERRORISM."

Now, if anyone has some real info, like explosions, planes flying into things, etc., let us know. Otherwise, let the workers try to pinpoint the problem, work around it even if they can't, and get the system up and running.

Look at 1965 and 1977 -- you don't want it to happen -- you work like the dickens to plan for every contingency -- and sometimes you fail. SOmetimes the plan was faulty -- sometime the contingency is too big for the plan (1977 was lightning hitting exactly the crucial junction point north of NYC for the humongous power line from Niagara PLUS, the operator failure to shed load.)

We'll find this one out too, but just like plane crashes, you can't find the answer in real time, always.

Bloomberg came on T.V., held a press conference, and said "100% certain not terrorism related".

Is he a member of the news media?

Sorry to crash in after 14 gahzillion posts, but if this deal isn't terrorism, why not call out the National Guard as a precautionary measure for what MAY result from the conditions arising from this mess?

They are trying to fill air time and scare the hell out of people at the same time

At the least I'm seeing a gross failure of our power infrastructure. Way too early to rule out anything BTW.

At 6:08 PM CDT CBS Network News reports that Detroit Edison has told all industries to take a three day weekend!

Heads need to roll in the power industry. This should never have happened....

Correct...we've not seen Tom Ridge or John Ashcroft or anyone else fill the screen saying that this was or was not terrorism.

Of course everyone's first thought would be terrorism - there are evil people who want to murder westerners and bring about the downfall of civilization. However, after that initial nervous breath we take with that thought, we should wait for verifiable information - not suppositions from unnamed sources, or people who are looking for media exposure.
