Er, if I may comment on your post...

If their faith is hinged on the bible being totally unerring in every way shape or form, and that EVERY story has to be the literal truth, then I believe that that person has a problem with thier faith.

If a person's faith is hanging on a thread - any thread - then what is accomplished by severing it? Indeed, it seems to me that others so situated would be very threatened by such an attempt.

This is very true, it is not fair that a person's faith could be severed by a scientific discussion.

Therefore, I would advise anyone who's faith is that close, should not get involved in these threads...;)

Nobody has a right to his delusions, particularly if their preservation requires me to renounce--or at least to avoid uttering--the truth. Not telling someone that his or her spouse has been unfaithful may be one thing, but in this case the advancement of science is at stake.
