I wasn't going to get into a debate... but I'm curious about something. Why isn't it possible that God created the universe (big bang) at the beginning, with it set up such that NATURAL laws (which he created) cause things to come about the way he wanted them to? It seems to me that he could have set everything in motion and then allowed those processes (such as evolution) to develop what he wished.

He could have done so if he wanted to do it that way, I suppose. But He didn't do that. You see, the world does not show itself to be as old as the "scientists" are saying it does. Plus, you have the idea that impersonal things such as molten lava can bring about intelligent persons. God is a very economic person. He could have set up the mechanisms to do all this, but it would have been silly.

Theologically, theistic evolution could not have occurred for many reasons as well. If you believe the Bible (and I do), you would have had problems with the order of creation lasting millions of years; but, more importantly, you have death and destruction coming before sin, which the New Testament clearly states was a result of the fall. Finally, you start chopping away at Genesis 1-11 and you lose the foundation for everything else in Scripture. God established marriage, for example. If Genesis 1-11 isn't valid, then there is no basis for the sanctity of marriage. Man sinned and needed a Savior. If Genesis is wrong, there is no basis for that either. See why it is so harshly attacked? If you can destroy the foundation, you destroy everything else. Fortunately, there is ample evidence to show Genesis is correct.
