He could have done so if he wanted to do it that way, I suppose. But He didn't do that. You see, the world does not show itself to be as old as the "scientists" are saying it does. Plus, you have the idea that impersonal things such as molten lava can bring about intelligent persons. God is a very economic person. He could have set up the mechanisms to do all this, but it would have been silly.

Theologically, theistic evolution could not have occurred for many reasons as well. If you believe the Bible (and I do), you would have had problems with the order of creation lasting millions of years; but, more importantly, you have death and destruction coming before sin, which the New Testament clearly states was a result of the fall. Finally, you start chopping away at Genesis 1-11 and you lose the foundation for everything else in Scripture. God established marriage, for example. If Genesis 1-11 isn't valid, then there is no basis for the sanctity of marriage. Man sinned and needed a Savior. If Genesis is wrong, there is no basis for that either. See why it is so harshly attacked? If you can destroy the foundation, you destroy everything else. Fortunately, there is ample evidence to show Genesis is correct.

I have no problem with the concept of God creating the universe, however you will never convince me or others that the Earth is 6000 years old. There are just too many facts regarding that... coming from many branches of human knowledge, geology, chemistry, astrophysics and so forth.

Continueing to fixate on untenable positions such as 'young earth' just drives people away from God and I think it does a horrible disservice to Christianity. Jesus only requires that we believe in him, not that we believe interpretations of the bible.

Many Christian denominations do not share your insecurity; they accept the possibility of evolution without worrying that it invalidates Christian belief. But in any case, it's hardly going to convince any of the rest of us we should abandon a useful scientific theory because it disagrees with your particular sectarian belief. That's your problem.
