TAMPA, Fla. -- A Florida dad is in jail, after he allegedly left his kids in a pickup truck while he visited a strip club.
Police in Tampa say Olvin Pabon paid a $20 cover at the Deja Vu bar, and spent about 20 minutes inside. A security guard outside heard crying and found the four children in the pickup truck.
Security officers and several patrons blocked Pabon's pickup truck until police arrived.
He's charged with four counts of child neglect. Pabon claims he just stopped to use the strip club's restroom and only left the children for about 10 minutes.
The kids, ranging in age from 1 to 8, are now staying with Pabon's sister-in-law.

"let's not be so judgmental, everyone... "
its one thing to forget the little one in the backseat in your morning frenzy to get to work....
quite another to deliberately leave children LOCKED UP while you entertain yourself in a strip club......

Not everyone who goes to a strip club is a decent human being. Leaving young children unattended outside one is absolutely not acceptable.

I have had arguments with people on FR who have suggested that everyone who is married and able
must have children.
I need to bookmark this and ping them over here next time.

I drive past this place twice a day. It is the best strip club in that part of town (At least that's what I'm told) and no I've never the inside of the place.

I'm pretty certain that at some point growing up way back in the 60's, my mom or dad left my sister and I in a car for 20 minutes while they went to the bank, or grocery shopping or something. We usually just played with the radio, windshield wipers, and a/c, and turned everything on the dashboard wide-open so when they got back to the car and turned the key, it would be funny.

Yes, I remember my brother and I playing the same way. It was normal back then, and I'm quite sure it was legal, too.
I also remember being really, really sick from the heat. And I know I wasn't ever left alone in the car till I was plenty old enough to come inside for help if it got to be too much...i.e., older than the 1 to 8 that these kids were.
Things are different now, because as a society, we've permitted the criminals to have free and clear title to our country. They roam at will, and we lock ourselves and our treasured children up as if in prison.
Yes, I know 2 million are locked up, mostly for victimless crimes--and do you feel any safer? I don't.
I think the freedom you and I had as kids is worth fighting for. I wish we could get together and recapture what was good about our culture.

This didn't happen on a regular basis by any stretch, but when my parents would go into the bank (or wherever) and leave us in the car, it was certainly not 100 degrees ... The societal norms and laws have been tailored down to the lowest common demoninator, and that is getting pretty low these days.

ah, another aficionado of Crowder's Gun and Vac... Yep, love 'em. I also hate that the Fish and Tan ("Buy a tan, get a free fish!!") went out of business. Of course the Herb and Metal place is thriving...Gotta love East Tennessee!!

This past Monday I was out with my daughter. We had stopped at a burger joint for a milkshake and, when leaving, couldn't help but notice a new Chev Suburban parked next to me. I noticed because she had parked crossways, partially blocking my car.
She shot me a defiant look as she walked away, hitting the beeper that locked her cardoors. It was then that I noticed that the motor was still running on her car. As I opened the door for my daughter, I could see (barely) the child in a carseat in the back of the Suburban. I waited around for ten minutes for her return, then called 911.
She was shocked to get stopped and explained that she had only gone in long enough to order food. She had nothing to say when I pointed out that the burger joint had a drive-thru.

But I remember getting left in the car all the time when I was little. We locked the doors and one of us kids pretended to be the driver. You can't do it anymore though (my wife got really mad at me for suggesting it once).
