Listen, my family has been here since 1609, and I bow to nobody, including you, including the president, so go find a nice corner with the rest of the illbred trash and hump yourself.
To: samuel_adams_us
At least I didn't turn 100 protesters into 4000

I didn't either, was taking it from a radio station quote this morning. I already stated that, so remember what you read and if I am wrong then I will admit it.

so go find a nice corner with the rest of the illbred trash and hump yourself. There you go again, showing that high emotional intellect.

The U.S. Constitution grants Congress the power to "regulate commerce". And, Bush was given Fast Track authority by Congress.
Our gigantic trade deficit is evidence that they are not regulating commerce very well. Our small and mid-sized manufacturing firms are going out of business because they cannot compete with cheap products from China. China's Yuan is 40% devalued. China is not engaging in fair trade.
Offshoring, illegals, and visa workers are negatively impacting Americans, because all involve employing non-Americans over Americans.
The Bush team needs to address all of this, but they are just ignoring it.

If the world wasn't built by the stupid, then who in the heck built the great pyramids, the washington monument, I guess it must have been the American Medical Association right?

I believe you've been brainwashed and/or jaded by an inability to accumulate wealth (apart from that which you might inherit from your well-to-do family).

It sounds like Congress needs to step in, not the President.

You're right. All wealth comes from government. In fact there's a big pile of money that the nasty, evil, rich people have stolen!!! (/sarcasm off)
Wake up pal. The jobs section of my local newspaper (and I'll bet yours too) is full of job offerings. If you lost your job, look or train for another one. Don't expect government to bail you out. Businesses create jobs, not government bureaucrats. Thank god Bush is trying to cut taxes to let businesses expand. Vote for the candidates who are pro-business, not the ones who promise to take care of everyone.

Funny!

You could put a thousand stupid people in the desert, along with all the materials they need and detailed designs showing exactly how to build a pyramid. And guess what -- go back in ten thousand years, and you might find a billion people there but you won't find any sign of a pyramid.

A certain church member who lived in a home like a palace, and who had
large holdings in real estate, and a good-sized bank account, was
accustomed to have worship with his family each morning as they began
the day. He usually read a portion of Scripture, and then prayed
fervently and earnestly for the poor and needy in his neighborhood, in
the community, and in parts far removed from his home. He prayed for
other things, of course, but the burden of his prayer each morning was
for those in need.
Enjoying every comfort himself, he, however, did nothing to help those
in need who lived near by. One morning after he had offered the usual
prayer for the destitute and the poor, his little son said to him, "Dad,
I wish I had your grain elevator."
"What in the world would you do with my grain elevator?" the father asked.
"If I had all the corn you have, Dad, I would answer some of your
prayers myself."

I didn' say I was out of a job, tell that to the protesters, not me.

Are you quoting this from experience?

That's a good one!

Good post, Driftless.
I'll point out that I'm in the process of starting a business myself. And I can assure everyone here that unless something dramatic changes, I will never hire a single employee. I have no problem paying someone a dollar for a dollar's worth of work. But when it costs me $1.50 to pay someone $1, it's pretty clear to me that there is something deeply flawed in this country's "business model."

""Less than a year ago, Kimberly Brochu was expecting a baby and living with her husband and four children in an apartment in Winslow, Maine. Then her husband, Allen, was laid off from his painting job. People think we get homeless because we're irresponsible, but it's hard finding jobs,'' says Brochu, 29""
It's irresponsible to have 5 kids and trying to live off of a painting job.

I pity the poor fools who spend money on things they don't need.
Why buy a 3000ft^2 home for $250,000, when you can live in a trailer home for $10,000.
Don't pay $30,000 for that sports car when you can get a used car for $2000 and drive it till it breaks in 2-3 yrs and get another used one.
I wonder what these fools will do when the US Fed Notes collapse and hyperinflation takes place.
I laugh at the fools who keep their money in the tech stocks and bonds, when the only bull market in town is happening in the precious metals market. (stealth gold bull market for the last three years)
I pity the poor fool who doesn't even have 5% of his wealth in gold/silver.
