Didn't meet her needs. Wow.
I thought the Jewish faith was predicated on being faithful to God as indicated by the Ten Commandments, and keeping God's laws as set down in the Torah.
As a Christian, it is dying to one's self, accepting the gift of salvation by grace through the sacrifice on the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Nowhere in the Bible have I read anything about getting your needs met.
Check out Philippians 4:19
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Or Psalm 40:17
But I am poor and needy; Yet the LORD thinks upon me. You are my help and my deliverer; Do not delay, O my God.
or Psalm 70:5
But I am poor and needy; Make haste to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay
Meeting Jesus is all about getting your needs met. I know what you are saying, that it should be more than about a selfish craving....but isn't that exactly how the Lord deals with us...on the level of our need?
But I concur with your sentiment. Sometimes what we think we need (I really need a winning lottery ticket, for example) is not what God sees as a need; they are actually wants, and God knows this. Since His almighty plan far exceeds the limitations of our short lives on earth, it's best to leave it up to Him.
Perhaps that it what she's doing...moving in God's plan for her continued spiritual growth. I've seen some amazing transformations come from tragedy or a genuine search for a connection with God.
Sorry, it's late and I'm rambling. Didn't mean to offend, just speculate. Have a good night.
Every child of God will have the needs of food and clothing met. Maybe what you were trying to say was about geting "wants" met. No guarrantee on the wants.
Oh, really? You reveal a shocking lack of depth in your knowledge of Scripture. One of my favorite Scriptures, and one of the earliest ones I learned, is Philippians 4:19:
And my God will supply all of your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
